My sunscreen - approved by Dr. B. I think it's good for acne prone and fair skin.

I had a reaction to the Bomasense sunscreen so I decided to make my own. I just use zinc oxide and jojoba oil. Zinc oxide is what protects you from the sun, and it also helps with acne and rashes. It hasn't done anything really for my acne, although because I am fair skinned it acts kind of like a nice foundation. It does leave a whiteness on your skin which is actually helpful I find on problem areas because it lightens the bright red patches if you have them.

If you have dry skin it can be kind of annoying because it does tend to leave a whiteness to your skin and if you're skin is dry it doesn't rub in completely. I have dry skin on my nose and forehead so when I rub it in I add a litte extra jojoba in this areas. I'm pretty sure that this mixture is responsible for the the disappearance of the rash under my eyes that had lasted for about three or four months.

They write on the bag that you can mix this with any oil or into any lotion etc, and 10% of zinc oxide corresponds to about an SPF of 6 or 11. The max allowed in the USA is 25% (all written on the bag). I used about 20% in my mixture of just jojoba and zinc ox. So far, no sunburns, and like I said, the rash under my eye has lessened dramatically and is almost entirely gone. It just flares every now and then. So, if you are fair skinned like me, I think this stuff is fine, since it acts like a foundation. It does clump a little so you have to rub it in well and you can always pat a little extra jojoba on if you want to even out certain areas then I'd just blot off any extra oil.

I pretty much always have a little white residue on my arms in the folds of skin where my arm bends, but whatever.

Maybe this will be helpful to someone.

THANKS HANNAH!!!
I will give it a try. Although with my clog-prone skin I will NOT let jojoba near my face (except sparingly as an eye makeup remover). For those of you prone to clogs, I would ask Dr. B if you can mix with a few drops of high linoleic safflower oil. Google to find a store on the internet that sells it. It must be high linoleic or else it will clog.
Currently I am using my mineral makeup with zinc and titanium dioxide and a hat if I will be out for a while:) But your concoction would be great if you were going to be out for more than an hour or so.
Great suggestion!

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

This is great - I was just thinking I need a new sunscreen solution.  Where does one buy zinc oxide?  The internet?  Do you have a recommendation of where to get it?  Thanks!
