Hello Girls,

I want to reach out to you as I hope to get a good advice or maybe a helping hand. For those of you who don´t know yet, I live in Germany and actually Dr. Brizman didn´t want to treat me as Bomamed is not allowed to send herbs to my country. I did a lot of research and it is indeed not allowed to import any kind of supplements, vitamins etc. The German customs are very strict. Anyways I made an appointment with Dr. Brizman as I thought I will find a way to sort things out. But at the moment my anxiety is very very strong and I can hardly sleep. I´m trying to figure out how to manage this subject and I have a few ideas. 1. I could find a person in Poland (I live very close to the Polish border) that would receive my packages and I could easiely pick them up. I´m just scared that maybe the shipping would take too much time and all the probiotics could die. 2. I could find somebody in London or Amsterdam to receive my packages. Maybe somebody of you would be willing to do that. As you all know how important it is to keep the probiotics in the fridge. And I would fly in every 3 months and pick up my herbs. The first 3 months I will be living in the US anyways. And then I can take a supply for another 3 months back home on the airplane. Has anybody ever done that before? Taking all the herbs for 3 months on a flight? Is that allowed? How did you keep the probs cold? To those of you who are symptom-free/ healed: Are you still taking the probiotics from Natren or is it possible to take others instead? Or are you taking any supplements at all? I also worry about all the money I will be spending. I know my parents are gonna support me, but still I worry so much. Does anybody of you have a good idea for me? Thank you so much for listening.

Hey love!
Don't worry, you will find a way. As for the probiotics, they generally ship them on ice, so if you are getting them sent by someone who ships on ice they should be fine. They should also survive the duration of the plane ride without anything... but when I flew to and from France I would take my probiotics as my carry on. I used a bag with insulation in it and put some ice packs in there. That will be plenty to keep them alive.
As for bringing herbs into the country I have brought loose herbs in and out of France and the US and had no problem although I was a little scared each time. France is a breeze. God they don't check for ANYTHING! BUT I know that Germany is an ENTIRELY different story, so I won't be able to tell you whether or not you'll be able to bring herbs into Germany :/ Can you call a Customs officer to ask? Perhaps if you have a special Doctors note? I would call someone because even if there are restrictions there are perhaps ways to work with the system and get an exception made for you.
You know what you might be able to do? If you order your herbs online you can have them delivered to a destination in Poland and pick them up and then drive over the border? In France there are certain shops that will get packages delivered to them and then you can just go and pick them up. You just have to pay a little extra for this. I would check to see if you can have this done in Poland. I mean sometimes they will send packages to an optician's shop, it could really be anywhere you just have to check to see if you have that option. Otherwise you could even ask a local shopkeeper if you could have your packages delivered at the address regularly... hopefully that won't seem too much like a terrorist lol.
As for taking 3 months of herbs back with you... this may be complicated because the herbal protocol changes regularly so it will most likely be impossible to know what herbs you will be on from three months from now... (can the patients who have been in treatment verify this?? This is my experience but I am new so it may be different as we get further in treatment). The only way to have the herbs you need three months in advance would be to buy EVERYTHING just in case haha.
If it doesn't work though Annika, I actually remember reading an article about a German girl who had IC... either a German girl or a girl living in the Alsace region of France who saw a totally quirky Naturopath who cured her IC with a very strange method. Practitioners who can and have healed IC exist in Europe and in the United States... they are just difficult to find, but if you have to you will find someone. So don't panic. This is not the only person in the world only way in the world etc. I'll try to find that article for you, although I have to admit this guy's methods were beyond my comprehension.. very bizarre.
That being said could you go to Thailand or India and work as a massage therapist there? I feel like your life there was so conducive to healing... Ugh I wish I had more answers. All I can say is DON'T panic. You will find a way. Everything is possible. Damn German customs, I was terrified of them too since I was there after my tourist visa in Europe had expired and was worried they would deport me HA!

I wonder if you could get a special visa to be in the US for your health? That has to exist I feel like. This is an added stress but it can be overcome. I say... make friends with a local shopkeeper in Poland and get someone to ship the herbs to him/her.
Keep us posted on what you find out!

Ok, I have news and maybe they are good. I just read the law about importing medication into my country. It is allowed to order meds/supps/vitamins from a foreign country via a pharmacy. But if I order from a non-european country such as the USA I need a prescription from a German doctor. Shouldn´t be too difficult to get that prescription since its only supps and probs. I bet it will turn out to be much more expensive this way, but at least I wouldn´t have to worry about the probs to die in a Polish post office. Still I need to find a person in Poland that can at least receive the Bomamed package, as the pharmacies can only place orders for common supplements. I believe the ones from Bomamed are selfmade, right? Feeling much better today. Also my urgency went down again as my period finally came tonight. Now I have pain, but its better than urgency. Hopefully I can sleep tonight. Thanks for all the great ideas. You are right, I´ll find a way. There are actually many ways, I just want to find the most comfortable one. Also I checked about importing meds to Germany via airplane. There is no restriction in whether it is prescribed or not, but I´m only allowed to bring in my own personal supply for max. 3 months.Perfect!

Annika, I have been with Matia for 2 years and I have never taken anything that she has made herself. I know some patients do, but I don't think it is very common. I am pretty sure you have a German version of Amazon.com they may carry a lot of the things you will need.

Dear all,
just an explanation. The situation in countries like Germany, Czech Rep., Poland etc. is quite different than in US or Australia.  We have a lot of brands which are not common in US and vice versa. The brands of supplements which Matia requires to use are not commonly accessible in our countries, in shops and pharmacies. I have to order all the supplements via Amazon UK or US e-shops. The delivery from UK to Czech Rep. lasts 5-7 days and no ice or no cooling bags will keep the temperature on needed level for all the time (my experience). So for example it´s better to fly to London for 1 day, to pick the package there and to transfer it to Czech Rep. by myself (the journey lasts just several hours, not several days).
In addition, Annika´s situation is more complicated because of german delivery policy (we don´t have so strict rules in Czech Rep. for now - thanks God for it).

I called Natren once to determine if a vitamin company had ruined my probiotics by sending them over a 7 day period in which the ice packs had melted. I was surprised to find out that if you left the probiotics at room temperature for up to 2-3 weeks they would still maintain their integrity. That is probablynot something you would want to advertise as people are kind of lazy or something but that is what they told me. You would want to keepsomething at a cool temperature like that and protect its vitality of course but that is something to keep in mind. Heat on the other hand can wreck them in a shorter period of time.
In winter it's not a big a deal- I imagine on the shipping plane its pretty cold no matter what. Every penny I have spent on Matia'stx  is/was an investment in my health and totally worth every penny compared with the 1,000s of dollars I spent on doctors, antibiotics and naturapaths who knew NADA on getting me healthy. I would have paid twice as much to be where I am now. It is priceless to be out of pain.

These are pretty interesting news. Thanks a lot. If that is true my life will be much easier actually.

Honeybee, thanks a lot for this information. This is very useful and it means to plan our orders of Natren products rather to colder times of the year, not to summer. The combination of cooling bags or ice and lower temperatures can work. That´s great.
