Hi,
I have been lazy to order my next case of French Meadows Spelt bread, and just learnt that the Sprouts markets no longer carrying the Spelt bread. The manager there knows me and told me she has 3 more customers buying this bread, so i am hoping they can do
some arrangement to order it for us, but in case they don't..anyone has any other options for bread? Either to make it or sites where you can buy it fresh?
Hi Seli!
Hi Seli!
If they are still carrying ANY French Meadow products, then it is worth pushing them to push their distributor to ADD it back into the shipment. I contacted French Meadow directly and they said that distributors often drop this particular product when the demand is low. You have to ask for it and be very pushy and they will add it. This should be true for Whole Foods as well, but I would go into the Whole Foods and speak to the manager. I know WF carries other FM products. I was able to get french meadow spelt at my small local store because they are very customer-focused. WF said they would help me on the phone and they never followed up so best to go in and be a squeaky wheel.

Hi Mimi,
Hi Mimi,
Thank you so much for the advice, i am waiting right now to hear back from sprouts bakery manager. She's been lovely do deal with in the past, hoping she can figure this out for me and her other customers, wonder if they are IC patients??? :)
Ally, the French Meadows was pretty good, but i think i should probably learn to make my own bread, maybe invest in a bread maker just in case. do you have a recipe to share? What's the consistency like? can you slice it? or is it more like a cookie/bread?
I tried in the past, it comes out nice, but not the right consistency to make a sandwich, more like a cookie, or cake, kind of crumply.

I know when I was in Cali, I was having the same issue with Sprouts ordering French meadows spelt. I could only find once store that carried it and was virtually impossible to find it in stock. I tried to have the store closest to me order it and bothered them for weeks, but they said they ordered a case for me, but never arrived each week with their shipments. All the stores can carry, but for whatever reason they don't seem to follow through with the orders. Very frustrating. I haven't found any other brand like the French meadows, but I would keep pushing. They have had it this long they can keep ordering by the case for customers.

Ally, the FM product uses a natural leavening process so it is chewier than home-baked quick bread. Sometimes I like home-baked because it is thick and cake-y. sometimes I like FM because it is easier to toast and could be used in a sandwich and also is tasty with eggs. Also great to have in freezer if you don't have home-baked.
Cristina, my understanding is that if the store does not push the distributor then it won't come.
I have been eating baked brown rice mochi lately with my breakfast with lots o' Kerrygold butter. Ah, but that is for another post ;)

OMG- is Mochi ok?
OMG- is Mochi ok?
That would really help to have that delicious snack.
Deir, Mochi is made from
Deir, Mochi is made from brown rice only. It can be such a treat. I will cut it in half and place a cooked egg between it. Another favorite of mine is to take 1/2 cup brown rice flour with a tablespoon of potato flour add water and a little olive oil then finely shred 1/2 zucchini and cook in a Belgium waffle maker. Egg can also be added to the mix, but I have to watch those. I am not able to eat kamut or spelt. They both irritate my bladder and make my allergies much worse.
Deir, I will double check at
Deir, I will double check at my appt. but I can't see why Mochi is not allowed if eaten with protein? It is only made with brown rice. I seem to tolerate it fine and it is so yummy with my morning coffee! List 3 I also make a berry/butter compote to have with it sometimes.

Are you guys sure it is brown
Are you guys sure it is brown rice? I used to eat it and so I am assumingthat back when I started treatment, I looked into it. I thought it was a different naturally sweeter rice.
Whoever has an appointment first- please ask, ok?
What brand of Mochi or how do
What brand of Mochi or how do you make it? Where do you get it? Sounds yummy.
Deir, I will ask Thursday. It
Deir, I will ask Thursday. It says brown rice and water. I am not sure how many different kinds of brown rice there are? But it doesn't taste any different than brown rice cereal, etc...
I cant imagine there would be a problem with it, but you have to watch the portion size and eat with protein!!
Mary I forget the brand as I don't have it because I ate it all! :) But it is found in the refridgerated section with the hummus, etc.. at WF. It is in a rectangular sheet and is sealed in plastic so it would last in the fridge, unopened, for several months so it is great to have as a backup. You score the top of it, and break it into squares and bake at 450 for about 10 minutes till it puffs up. Also Mary there is a date/pecan version that might be ok for list 4 and higher! It only has dates, pecans and brown rice.

My appt is the week after
My appt is the week after Mimi's. I think Mimi and I are eating the same product. I too finished mine and don't recall the name. Mochi is only Brown rice and water...can't imagine it is a problem. I always eat with protein and veggies. I am on list 1 and rice is the only carb I can eat that doesn't bother my bladder.
You can make homemade bread!
You can make homemade bread!
Here's a good recipe:
Sprouted Brown Rice Bread
Dry Ingredients:
3 cups sprouted brown rice flour
¾ cup arrowroot powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon sea salt
Wet Ingredients:
2 cups plain organic yogurt or milk
3 large organic eggs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Oil a glass bread loaf pan (8 x 4-inches).
In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients and mix together with a wooden spoon until completely incorporated. Pour batter into oiled bread pan.
Bake for approximately 60 minutes. Cool for about 20 minutes, then release bread from the pan, place onto a wire rack and cool completely before slicing.
