If you had/have acne in treatment

Hi all

Been plagued with bumpy wierd adult acne (really just plugged pores, sticky sebum that creates small bumps all over my face). It has improved in tx. My skin is less scaly/dry, less super oily (still affected by my cycle tho) and generally has a decent glow. But I have used grapseed oil with linoleic acid in it which keeps the pores from getting clogged/ inflammed. It helps keep my skin looking decent but is not good for my IC. I have come a long way, as I used to use Retin A, benzoyle peroxide, and salicylic acid to keep my skin from breaking out. I have had acne since a teenager so this is a deep imbalance that may be the last thing to go. Just wondering how others have managed their skin in treatment. Is you skin improving? What are you doing or not doing? I find washing with spring water is better for my skin too. Thanks for any thoughts.

Acne has been a huge die off symptom for me since the beginning of treatment. For me, I find there's nothing I can do about it other than keeping my skin clean. If toxins are choosing that outlet to escape, then it is what it is. It sucks, but it's better than suppressing the bacteria or whatever is trying to leave. It does go away. A lot of people talk about their skin becoming clear in treatment, but it's just not that way for everyone I suppose. It's a die off symptom for a lot of us. A good thing.

Thanks TInk!
LOL looks like we both answered eachother's threads. The thing is, I have had acne for 30 years, so I don't totally get the die off thing, but maybe it is in the sense that my poor body has been trying to detox for years through my skin. From a western perspective I have sticky sebum, and the reason for this probably starts in the gut. That is why it is hard for me to see it as toxins coming out of the skin, but more as a disease process, but maybe it doesn't matter how we characterize it we are still saying the samt thing.
Is yours better now? What does it look like? I don't get big bumps wit white heads. Mine are more deep under the skin and can last months. Or now they are just blackheads because I use the grapeseed oil to bring them to the surface.

Same here.. acne since puberty. It did clear during college and early 20s... mostly. Then came back heavily when I started treatment. Seems to amp up during die off. It's not too bad right now, but it comes and goes. I know you've seen my photo on fb, but I don't use my real name on this forum. ;) I agree it's a lifelong effort to expel the toxins. Like that's just the medium our bodies choose to do it. It gets better! :) So sorry though.. I know it sucks! Especially as adult women. But it's a step toward healing! I always say that I welcome non-painful die off!! :)

Thanks tink!
Yes lifelong die off but only because I was never doing anything in my adult life to promote health. So the acne kept up because I was not taking care of my gut. Hopefully we will both get past it!!

Hi Mimi,
Firstly, thank you so much for imparting  so much information and encouragement on this website.  I've been a patient of Dr. Boaz since January and I have really benefitted from your input on these forums. Thank you.
Funny you should mention Retina A  as I was longingly thinking about it today, hopeful I'd be using it again someday.  Seems 4 months into list 1 and it's not sugar, alcohol, bread, or my favorite shampoo I (currently) crave but it's this face cream! Given all you know about this treatment and IC do you foresee ever being able to use the stuff again? I used  a prescription form to exfoliate and regenerate cells.  I also used hydroquinone for hyper  pigmentation.  Do you believe your face regime contributed to your gut imbalance?  While, my current bladder and utrethra pain leave no time/priority for worry about my face aging, I'm interested to hear if, similar to foods, these face products will be allowed once we are healthy.

Hi Ejh, thanks for your post! Do you want the good news or the bad news? LOL. Ok. Qick with the bad news and on to the good. Retin A should NEVER touch your skin again, lest it really wreak havoc on your immune system. It is way too strong. An overengineered product that should be taken off the market in my opinion (But seriously, Dr. B says NO and so does my local Natropathic Doctor). It just dumps immediately into your blood stream when placed on the skin. Any of that stuff does. Now there is a former long-term IC patient of ICAMA that started her own natural skin care line. I can't speak to what natural products are safe, and when, but you will know as you finish treatment what will be safe to try. Here is what you will put in your skin aresenal: HAT, SUNSCREEN, whole FOOD, avoiding the BIG AGERS of sugar and alchohol, Juice Plus-when appropriate (a safe supplement used often in treatment which has clinical studies demonstrating improvement in skin quality), and Dr. B says possilbly a cream or natural oil that is high in natural vitamin A MIGHT be appropriate AFTER treatment (please don't buy vitamin A cream in treatment!!). and last but NOT least is daily facial exercises. This stuff has been used by actresses that shun botox. This stuff REALLY works! Go gently. Ask Boaz, try a few. There are lymph nodes in face so try cautiously at first. It will reverse some things, and absolutely STOP other things from getting worse. This company has a great app you can download to learn and practice the exercises. Love them. Always check first tho.   http://www.faceworks.co.uk/
