cortisone injection

Forums:

I have been in physical therapy for six weeks for my rt shoulder partial tear of the rotator cuff.  Have been working with Dr. B and have tried acupuncture and zheng gu shui which is a linament.   Had flares of itching and some bladder with the latter two treatments.

I am doing straight PT  and ultrasound (Dr. B approved) - (no massage, no electrical  stim or trigger point therapy).  Minimal results - can't work through the pain (inflammation).  Am going to give this another week or so.  Have been talking to Dr. B about the cortisone injection.  It seems I may have no other choice and she is supportive of the fact that something more may have to be done.

I am so discouraged and depressed.  My body can't take much of anything without the awful itching and rashes flaring up as well as the vag burn.  I can't imagine what the cortisone will do - I just cry and cry when I think of having to do this.  All this work for 18 months and progress.....God only knows what the cortisone will do when I can't even take much naturally.

I don't know how to pull myself out of this one.  I hate this feeling of hopelessness - feeling so cocooned and so much of a loss of things I used to be able to do physically.

Has anyone else had to get cortisone injections with IC and in treatment?  If so - how did you repsond.  Does anyone else suffer from the whole body itches and rashes - and if so - how long did they last - I'm still suffering for almost 2 years.

Do I try to use the natural treatments more and suffer through the flares - or risk the cortisone????so confused.

Thanks - Breis

Bries, don't do the cortisone yet. Please call me. I will send you my phone number.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Breis,
I would definitely NOT do the cortisone. I am currently in acupuncture school (specifically a school that does a lot of trigger point therapy) which I would highly recommend over cortisone. Cortisone will just we a quick fix but break down and injur the tissue.
You can email me if you want to chat more but I would really encourage trigger point therapy which is highly affective for rotator cuff injuries.
Best, Lexy
