Hello everyone,
I'm 23 weeks pregnant. For the last few month I've had bladder symptoms, including what feel like fairly frequent Braxton-Hicks contractions that further irritate my bladder. Looking on other IC boards on the internet, it appears other women with IC tend to have more frequest BH contractions (maybe due to an already irritated bladder? I'm not sure). Have any one of you ever felt this? Did they put you at risk for early labour? I'm wading into unknown territory here for my midwives and doctors and any help would be very much appreciated.
So far, all the signs have been that the baby is perfectly healthy, but if there's a risk I'd like to know about it. Also, ladies who had babies while battling IC, if you have any inspirational stories on feeling and doing okay during/after labour, I'd love to hear about them...
Thanks,
Lauren
I had my daughter about a
I had my daughter about a year ago and would say that my symptoms definitely didn't get worse and probably got better during the pregnancy. I also had braxton-hicks early on but also had with my previous pregnancies when I did not yet have IC. My daughter was a month early but I blaim that on the fact that I was moving a lot of toys and books and doing things I probably shouldn't have done the day my water broke, so I really don't think it was related to the IC. Delivery and recovery were no problem at all. I just avoided as many meds as I could. It is also critical to drink a lot of water and Dr B suggested eating more red meat after giving birth. Good luck! I am sure it will go smoothly!
So excited for you!! I did
So excited for you!! I did not have full blown IC before, during or after my pregnancies (it came 5.5 years later) but of course I had the framework/early stages of IC. I think I had a fair amount of Braxton Hicks and false labor (near the end). Both kiddos were full term :)
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Hi Lauren,
Hi Lauren,
i got IC when I was 12 weeks pregnant - not knowing what it was and not knowing Matia and the protcol - it was horrible. BUT the labor and delivery were not affected but my IC - so that's great news. I had a natural, drug free birth and I did great. My body took over and focused on birth. Frequency was up but not urge, pressure, burning etc.
So needless to say - you'll be great too - since you are already on your way to healing!
Thanks everyone. The weird
Thanks everyone. The weird symptoms of pregnancy are confusing enough without throwing my IC into the mix and wondering what is causing what type of pain. I really appreciate the positive stories!
Lauren
You will have extra discharge
You will have extra discharge, pressure, frequency and urgency with pregnancy. That is normal.
I had false and real contractions in 3rd trimester. They can stop them if you ask. It is absolute best for the baby to be full term. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. Also, bedrest, meditation, relaxation helped me with pre-term contractions.
I also am pregnant, this is
I also am pregnant, this is our fourth child, as it was not planned.
My ic started 6 years ago when i was pregnant from the first.
it was bad when i was pregnant from the boys, and not as bad when i carried our little girl about 2,5 years ago.
I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and my bladder was fine until yesterday, the urgency/pressure is bad, i feel like getting my depression back again, i've had that very bad after the last birth.
I hope my bladder will somehow improve because i cannot walk trough with this for 22 weeks.
I have been in treatment with Matia for about 5 years now i think, and have seen lot's of improvement, but i could'nt handle the diet and it became a mess, we live in Holland and i flew in once.
After a computer crash/ blocked creditcard etc. i want to get started again, because i don't want this anymore.
I hope for you it will not get to bad, i never want to be pregnant again.
