Hairspray

I was so excited because I was finally feeling like I could get back to singing with the Praise group at church. Today was to be my first day. I had rehearsed all week. Knowing I would be in front of the entire church I decided to spray a little bit of hairspray on my hair. So now huge flare -   Back to bed in pain - no church and no praise team. I'm not sure which is worse the flare or the stupidity on my part. I just want to cry!!!!!

Oh no! So sorry! You will be back soon. That must be so disappointing to miss somehting you were excited about. Don't beat yourself up about it- so much of this is trial and error.

Not sure what your hair is like but hot rollers are amazing and really make my hair look nice without any products at all. I wash with shampoo then put a TINY amount of conditioner in my hair before blow drying and then put the hot rollers in. I am able to use a small amount of hairspray every now and then (seriously, I have used it 2x in the past 4 years) You will probably get strong enough to use it every now and then but in the meantime, keep experimenting with styles that don't need it. Some people use egg white as a gel of sorts. I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks Deir. I have very straight limp hair. Use the heat rollers but Floridas humidity brings it right down :(  its long so i do alot of different things but it came out so pretty today i just wanted it to stay.  I think i will try the egg whites and thanks for the hugs :)

Oh no! I'm so sorry! That's really disappointing when these types of things happen! From what I understand (because I haven't actually tried it as it sounds super gross to me), egg whites act more like hair gel than hairspray. I have a good friend who is a hair dresser. She taught me how to work a fine tooth comb and bobby pins to create some nice hair styles even with thin, limp hair without using any products. It's amazing what some teasing and bobby pins can do! That along with a straightener or curling iron. Play around with some styles when you have some free time to find what works for you.

Yep, egg whites actually work great! I found out in react strongly to eggs so just put my hair up in a messy bun most of the time. I hope the flare settles soon! Just awful to benson excited about something and then ruined by pain! You will eventually be strong enough to try more natural products. Sending hugs!

Hello! Patty,
I have totally made this mistake last year at this time. I was in a wedding and I had my hair done. The girl who did my hair drenched my hair in hairy spray. I wanted to say something, but I decided to just deal with it. I said the same thing it looks so good ah whatever. Biggest mistake I ever did. I broke out with this itchy rash for like a month. It was awful! I also put nail polish, and perfume. Such a mistake!
You didn't do nearly as much mistakes as I did, so I am sure you'll jump right back from this. Drink lots of water to wash it out of your system. So sorry to hear your in pain:/
Prayers!
-Abbie

Thank you ladies. Thankfully the flare only lasted about 4 hours. I'm hoping that means my body is moving to a more healthy state :) your sweet comments were appreciated!!
