I tend to experience patches of rash come and go once a month and almost every month. They occur pretty much in the same place - near or on the bikini line, closer to hips. Usually the rash will appear on both sides at different times but this time, both legs have it and it is the most annoying, horrible, EXTREMELY itchy rash. I feel like peeling my skin off!! It starts off as a small patch but then gets bigger over the next few days and then it like hits a peak and then starts to go away. I don't know what to do though, it is so uncomfortable, i could forever just itch until my hands get tired but that only makes it worse. In fact on one side i have scratched so much that, that part of the skin hurts :( i wake up several times in the night because of the itchiness. I used to put a steroid cream on it which suppressed it and made it go away in a couple of days but Dr.B told me it's a no-no. Since then I apply Sovereign Silver (suggested by Dr.B) which calms it for an hour or so and then bam! itchiness back with a vengence!!!
What is up with these stupid rashes?! :( Any idea what I can put on to calm it? It is particularly bad this time round plus it came on the same time as when my burning symptoms heightened - double whammy :( When will it all stop?!
Sorry if reading this post has made anyone feel itchy. I know writing this post has certainly made me want to scratch!!!!
I htought the swirling flare
I htought the swirling flare pain was the worst until I got horrific deep itching. IC has the ability to keep upping itself! I think mine was a healing crisis as it only lasted a few weeks (although slight vaginal itching is a constant for me- but not bothersome) That period when I had the severe itching was one of the most emotionally challenging in this whole process. I don't have any advice- just empathy. i do think it will go away for you thoug- sounds like a classic freaky IC thing that this treatment will eventually address. Hope it is sooner thanlater.

Itchiness. Tell me about. Throughout treatment I've been itchy in various places on and off. I have s.th. similar like your rash on my calfs. Itchy patches that come and go. If I shave my legs it becomes unbearable and gets even worse with heat. That's why shaving and bathing is a no-go at the moment. I feel like a neanderthaler woman. Dr. B. Upped my bifido in the hope it will help. Not until now. I also have vaginal itchiness on and off and I can feel little spiders partying in my ears at times. Maybe it's yeast coming out. I just try to be patient and wait for it to go away.

Good to know not it's just I who is experiencing this. I've been getting this rash on and off for about 5 years. I still remember the day it started, I thought it was a tick bite or something. Went for various dermatology tests and biopsy from which they concluded it is Lichen Planus, a condition that apparently appears out of nowhere and disappears itself without a known cause. Some docs say it's the auto-immune system attacking itself. Since then, the place where it first appeared on my inner thigh has changed too, for many months/years it reappeared in that area and now it's more bikini region. It's strange that once it appears in a 'new' area, it will keep appearing there for a few months and then change position again. Since the start it has been concentrated around my inner thigh/bikini line/hip.
Are rashes a good thing?! or is it a symptom of IC?
