In the early years of my practice I did not understand why my patients cholesterol levels were going down when I was not restricting their diets in accordance with any typical cholesterol reduction type guidelines. As the years progressed I more full understood the impact of inflammation on the human body and the production of cholesterol and the dynamic between the two.
Yes, there have been patients that I have not been able to assist in lowering their cholesterol, but, for the most part, it has been quite astounding, the degree to which cholesterol levels normalize in conjunciton with simply treating the inflammation in the body.
This article is on the topic of heart disease and inflammation vs the idea that cholesterol is the cause. I thought it would be a good read for all of you.
