Digestion as an expression of IC

I just wrote a note to someone about how frustrating it has been for me to not see a direct pattern between a food I have eaten, and how my bladder feels. What I have come to realized is that, my digestion or inability to digest food properly is an expression of my IC. Dr. Brizman has discussed this with me. For me, if I have burping, heartburn, pressure in the chest, bloating, gas (foul smelling or not), constipation or loose stools, or undigested food in my stools, these to me are all signs that the food I am eating is somehow contributing to my IC. Food does not seem to directly bother my bladder. But as far as my GUT goes, I can absolutely link my digestion issues to food. Especially now that I am paying close attention to my indigestion symptoms. Dr. B has always told me that my digestive symptoms are an EXPRESSION of my IC. So if the food is effecting my digestion, then on some level it is affecting my vitamin assimilation, nutritional status, and level of inflammation, which in turn impacts my bladder. So it that regard, food does affect my IC, if not a direct link to bladder pain right after I eat. So I am keeping carefull track of my food and how my digestion responds, even though I know this treatment involves supplements as well. I hope that makes sense.

Food and I have a hate hate relation and also a huge part of my IC. I am now at the cross roads of waiting to see if we can manage to control my GB pain or have the GB removed. Even in western medicine there is no drug they can use to mask GB pain, it's a removal type situation to resolve the pain. Dr. M doesn't even know if she will be able to reverse the problem, but hopeful will start to see improvements with digestion once we can really focus on changing the flow of my energy. So torn and anxious for something to change and not have such issues with food and digestion and all the awful symptoms and pain that go along with poor digestion!

CPrince, I had Gallstones and also had some in my bile ducts. Was so painful and sick. I had my gallbladder removed many years ago the old fashioned way with a huge scar. I have responded very well to Boaz's treatment. I just wanted you to have a little encouragement if surgery is needed. I pray for you often. You are one of the strongest people I know!!!! Best wishes to you.

Hello,
I am so sorry that you're in such pain. Am I correct that GB is gall bladder?

And yes Mimi that all makes perfect sense. I do not always respond to food with pain but there is always a correlation between my digestive issues and my IC.

Patty, that is some encouraging! I have a overactive gallbladder so it feels like there are stones when there are none. My gallbladder is contracting so hard all the time the bike is refluxing back up into the bike ducts and causes severe pain. I'm hopeful we can get it settled with acupuncture treatments and if that isn't helping I am going to have it removed. I am in constant pain and hard to be patient until I can start acupuncture, but also very scared how my body will handle surgery and not being able to take pain meds. Such a dilemma, but I've survived the last 21 years with this pain and finally finding the diagnosis, finally after my own research and being written off so many times by Dr's stating I was crazy in the head! My Dr called me and apologized this morning for all the confusion and him not knowing this diagnosis and just going with what the radiologist read as "normal." With doing more research only 1/3 of radiologists and Dr's know of this diagnosis, as it is quite uncommon to have a hyper dysfunctional gallbladder.
