travelling long distance and a question

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to visit the Brizmans from the UK and wondered if anyone had any advice in where to stay in the area? I'll be coming alone and am quite nervous As we all know travelling with IC is nightmare. I'm also worried about getting food whilst I'm there as im allergic to life itself!

My other question was I wondered if anyone else is affected by electro magnetic frequencies? If I use a computer with wifi or a mobile phone it makes my bladder hurt after a while. I know that sounds nuts but I promise it's true. Anyone else in treatment have anything similar?

Many thanks

Katie

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of a burner!

I stayed in Santa Monica itself here

it was easy. I felt safe. Short walk to beach and pier. Lots of eclectic shops and a good health store on Main Street itself. Short taxi ride to Bomamed - I even took the bus ! Also there was a Trader Joe and Whole Foods withjn walking distance of Bomaned and I picked up supplies there and took a taxi back. The family who ran The Sea Shore were very helpful and helped me with a couple of trips and bus routes etc. Right next door was a cafe that did omlettes with spinach , avocado , courgette etc. Fridge in room. So ate brunch and then ate snacks in room later. I also travelled alone. :)

PM If you need any more help as to wherethings  are etc.

I even squeezed in a tourist trip and some shopping !

Good luck. :)

Thank you Bagpuss! I'm quite poorly (as are so many of us) and so the journey is bit daunting. Hopefully I can make it there ok!

It is a very long journey to make and I was very unwell too and even had to bunk off work and call in sick from my hotel in LA ! Had to stay up when I arrived to do that - very stressful. I have severe fatigue so have to make everything as easy as possible as can't walk far. The flight was the worst part for me as I don't fly too well.

I found it fine overall though.  My GP wrote a letter for the airline and they gave me an aisle seat and I paid a little more for extra legroom too.

I know it's daunting but you can do this and I was so amazed to be in LA that I squeezed in two outings in the short time I was there. Not sure how ! It's very easy to get the right food compared to here and it is healthy food everywhere. You ll be fine.

Good luck. !

Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope you're doing well in your treatment! I can't work right now cause I'm so poorly but I'm hoping Boaz will be able to help me. I've never travelled since my IC became servere but it's good to know others have managed it.

Katie. I was really scared about traveling. I was very careful on the diet and had no new issues.  It is a little tough on the airplane because of frequency and fighting for the bathroom. Since you have such a long flight I think I would let the stewardess know you have a medical reason for making many trips. Maybe they can run interference some for you. Lol. I only had one real issue with it and that was when they had the seatbelt sign on and I couldnt get up. I was near tears. But other than that it was not a bad trip. Good luck. You will love Boaz!!!!

I live near Los Angeles so did not have to fly in for treatment but I have flown to England several times since then. I brought my own food with me and the airline I flew on had spring water. Since it was a long haul flight I booked a seat by the aisle and had no problem going to the bathroom as most people slept for a good portion of the flight. I did drink less though so as I did not need to go so often. Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone. You have been so helpful. I feel a little more confident if so many of you have been able to do it!

Katie. Many of us have trouble with our ears so you might want to get some ear plugs for the flight. I used them as a precaution and had no trouble.
