Ok so I know water is a big subject and spring and distilled is the way to go. I found this water that brings my pain levels down 3-4 levels though so I have to talk about it.Now it has won awards and so far it is only in limitied areas. It is called coral water and it is remineralized and purified. There is something about thier combo that brings my pain down and I can't seem to go with out it. I just thought I would share. I Know we aren't suposed to advertise I am sorry for that I just felt it was important. Matia if you want the website let me know.

Water was  the last thing that I paid attention to until I made a visit at Yosemite National Park for my 10 year anniversary. I would sometimes drink tap at my house, but when we went to Yosemite this July, I noticed I really started to flare.  I had noticed that when I made a visit the April before last.  I was so bummed out because I thought to mysef, "you have got to be kidding me, this is my favorite place in the whole world... now I flare because of a darn park?  and I would consider myself a mild IC patient!"  Then, I noticed my son was flaring too!  Then, for whatever reason... I put 2 and 2 together and BOOM!  I realized that the water that I LOVED to drink there from the tap was doing it.  As soon as I stopped drinking that water and changed to bottled or even Pellegrino, my son and I stopped flaring.  So... water... even from the purest source can cause such a bad flare.  The water in Yosemite tastes so good and fresh, but I suspect it is the high mineral content that causes such a bad flare in my son and me.
The water that I drink while at home is from Trader Joes.  I drink the Pure New Zealand Artesian Water (probably similar to Fiji) or Trader Joes Bottled spring water in the sport top pack.  I have not had any problems what so ever with it!  I noticed there is a TJs in Vancouver, so hope that helps our Canadian brethren!
Best!  and good luck,
Jeanette

Thanks for the TJ tip, Jeanette. I think Trader Joe's is not in Vancouver BC, but in Vancouver WA...could be wrong. I am heading to Bellingham though and plan to give the TJ spring water there a try. I was very happy to find the Arrowhead spring water at Thrifty's on Vancouver Island, as we discussed, Kriste. However they are not restocking so am again searching. They say Thrifty's is carrying it in Coquitlam in Vancouver and in Victoria.   If you have any others you've tried, to recommend, I'd sure be interested.

Lolo they do have the Arrowhead water at Thrifty's in Coquitlam, BC on Austin Ave.  I also am trying a water from Mountain Spring water.  It is from here in B.C.  It is natural spring water from Harrison, B.C.  They dropped off some free bottles for me to try, so will see how this goes and let you know.

Thanks Jeanette for the tips.  I also think that TJ is in Vancouver, Washington and not Vancouver, B.C.

Thanks Kriste.... I will look for Mountain Spring water and look forward to hearing about your experience with it. I cannot believe I was so strict about my drinking water but for some reason I used tap water for hot drinks (in my case...hot water in a cup)...I have just now started using bottled water for all.......I wonder if any others have made this mistake...I have found that clear thinking has not been easy...

fuzzy thinking is such a challenge for this treatment!  just remembering to take my herbs on time!  I use spring water - a semi- local brand that works well for me. I even cook my food with it. I can't use anything else or I react to it. It has helped me to use spring water- and a water filter for my shower. Mary

I am wondering if anybody in Canada, specifically in the West, has any suggestions for safe water for those of us with IC.  I have been driving down to the US to buy "Arrowhead" water but finding this to be time consuming.  I am looking at "Canadian Spring Water".  It is natural spring water that has been ozonated.  I am not sure of the PH yet.  I am also looking at "Mountain Spring" Water which also is natural spring and ozonated.  They also have natural spring water that has been demineralized.  This is all so confusing does anyone have a suggestion of what I should drink?

I have been flaring non stop and I have come to the thought that it is my water.  I am drinking whole foods spring water. I am wondering if anyone has flared from it before? What kind of water does Matia say to drink? Also, what kidn of water do you all drink in the chicagoland area?

I had them deliver the 5 gallon jugs to my house, and I flared from it.  I called the company and found out what they deliver is not spring water, it is drinking water.  So, then I tried to drink out of the the small bottles of the spring water they gave me and I flared again...I cant find a water!!!! So annoying.  The one Matia suggested, I called at it was 65.00 a month for delivery.  I cant afford that.  Now, I am going to try Pure New Zealand Artesian Water from trader Joes, although its really expensive too.  I was drinking distilled water all week because its cheap, but Matia told me NO on distilled, it is very acid she said.  But it did not bother my bladder..I trust her, and I will keep searching, but its SO frusterating!

yea the mountain valley is expensive but it's sooo good and never causes me problems. I pay 17.50 for a 5 gallon they come every 8 weeks and i get 7 bottles. Also if you don't have a coller you have to buy or rent one. They do have other options besides the cooler but i wanted a hot and cold tap. I need to buy a cooler because the extra 12 dollars a month adds up. It is still cheaper then getting the fuji and i have no trader joes or I would try it. My bills are outragously high.
I don't know persoanlly about mountain mist but I hear good things about them you might check them out.

Mountain Valley is my last one I am going to try if all else fails.  Tonight  I went and got Jewel Spring water (.89 gallon), Poland Springs (1.79), Hinkley Spring (1.49) and  Pure New Zealand artesian water from trader Joes (2.49).  I am starting with the cheapest first and will drink each one for two days.  Then make a decsion.  If they do not work, I break down and get Mountain Valley, and forget about summer clothes, cause I wont be able to afford them..

Thank you for posting all this.  I have been using Poland Spring while living in NY and for the last9 months of treatment.  When I was traveling recently I noticed I felt a little better and I was drinking another kind (Boulder, not spring water though) in CO.  I didn't think the reason was the water, but am now thinking my lack of progress in treatment could be from the Poland Spring!  Dang it.  I will try a few bottles of Mtn. Valley, but also am finding it hard to afford all this STUFF.  And the glass bottles sure are a lot more to deal with than the bigger 3 liter plastic countertop kind!  But since water is all we drink these days, I suppose it's a good investment.  Ugh!  Do other companies offer monthly deliveries besides Poland Spring and Mtn. Valley?

Eek.  Oh no!  Thats my water!  Do you think it could really be that?

Both out!  Poland Spring smelled Weird too!  Maybe I got a bad bottle.  It smells like Chemicals.  I am getting closer and closer to having spend 70 bucks a month on water...UGH!  I am so annoyed with the cost of ALL of this, and not feeling better at all is not helping

HA I spend 150 a month on water. I drink a gallon a day soo thirtsty all the time
try looking into the mountain mist instead see if they are in your area I belive they are and it says they are real spring water.

If Poland Springs works for you, Keep it!  For me though, it did not work.  For some reason most waters bother my bladder.  Matia wants us to drink spring, but most of the springs I find cause frequnecy. The only one that has not is Evian water, and I cant afford to drink that all the time.  So, I am am going through a bunch of waters now to see which one  does not cause me to have to pee so muchMatia told me to get this very expensive one called Moutain Valley Spring water, it comes in a glass bottle (I think this is what Nicole is drinking).  I can order it, but its very expensive. That is my last try if all else fails.

Mel,Did you ever think you are getting frequency just from the general increase in fluid intake?I know I dont flare from Ice mountian, but if I were to drink tons of it.......it would cause me increase frequency.  I think it has something to do with all the filtering of the liquid and not the water itself.  I thought I remembered someone else on here commenting about that? Maybe I am not remembering correctly.  Ask Matia at your next call.  Anyway, just thought I would throw another idea out, I know how much you are struggling with this.  Hope it gets better soon.Becky

Does anyone know if well water could be good? My parents live up in the mountains, and I can get water from them. I was using arrowhead spring water the last few weeks, but I did not notice it helping at all, I was almost thinking it was making it worse. I used to just drink tap. My husband and Father said Arrowhead is just distilled water.... my husband went to where they make it here on a job( im in Colorado) and my Father is City mayer of one of the towns next to boulder here, and he said that Arrowhead came up as one of the ones with the highest bacteria content (yikes!). I just was wondering as I didn't see anyone mention it here on this thread.... So does anyone know about well water? My Dad and husband say it is good, as it is just spring water... no chlorine....Thanks : )

Matia told me no on this cause my mother in law has it, but we live outside of a city.  Becky, I have only been able to drink 50oz of a water a day, and that has me going 30 times or more a day.  When I drink water that bothers me though I actually flare.  I get Urethral burning along with frequncy.  I am doing Ok with this water from trader Joes now, but its very expensive, 2.69 a gallon..Yikes! I really cant hold more than 5oz without having to go bad..So So So annoying!

WOw i wonder if Matia knows that about the arowhead. I personally don't like that brand and the only ones that work for me are Fiji and mountain valley. I would think you would need to test your water. it's not only chlorine but it's medicines that are in  the water I don't know that the springs don't have this I think that is part of why we as a society keep getting sick. Last night I watched the future of food along the lines of king corn and I was sick about it. It's really sad what is happing to our food and our society as a whole. It's no wonder people are so sick.

In a last ditch attempt at trying to alleviate my pain and frequency I just ordered the mountain spring water that comes in a glass.  I am in sticker shook, but I need to try it just to see.  If there is no change, I will go back to the cheaper spring water.  I will post in a few weeks to let you know if it helped.

Yes I agree Nicole it is sick... I wasn't really surprised when my husband told me that he had been at the arrowhead factory here, and it is not spring water, just distilled water... and when my Dad told me that... just like a lot of things you have to research on your own to know the truth.I am just confused about the whole water thing... I have been drinking Eldorado spring water and Fiji yesterday and today, and it makes a difference! I am very surprised! I wasn't feeling the urge to go every ten minutes, but every hour most the day! I can't believe it, but don't want to get my hopes up yet... fiji is just so expensive, but I think that it is that water, but hopefully the Eldorado... because it is 99 cents a gallon at the Whole foods here... I am going to try fiji for the next two days straight, then Eldorado for a couple days after that and see maybe...

I had a great bladder day all day, because I only drink enough water to take my supplements.  The mountain spring came today in the evening, and I started sipping 10oz of it from 6-8..and well I have went pee now 8 times in that 2 hours.I have come to the sad realization that just drinking anything causes me to flare.

Hopeful's picture

I am sorry! That sounds very frusterating! I don't know what to do about water either, I have been doing ok on some local water I have been getting at Whole foods. But I don't know if I would feel better still if I was on a better water...

I am trying Evian today and tomorrow.  I actaully hope it does not work, cause if it does and I drink 3 liters a day, thats $180.00a month!!!!!!!!

are you thinking that because your Frequency is up while your drinking water that is a FLair ? I am not sure that is a good assumption I would really discuss this one with Matia.

Melsvensen's picture

I also have burning in my urethra.  I will for  sure bring this up with her next week at our appointment, or maybe on the call if there is time.  The Evain water is doing the same thing though..so it is just that all liquid does it to me.  Before treatment I only used to drink maybe 2 cups of water a day for years, so I think I have trained my bladder not to hold anything.

nicole's picture
nicole

wow thats really unhealthy. I am sure there must be somethig Matia can advise you about. It might be that for now any water will do that to you. I know if I don't drink enough water I am in more pain we are all so different.
