What brands of breads do you all buy. The whole foods stoped carring pacific bakery and I can't seem to find anything. The min order is 20 + 20 shipping and I am not even sure I will tolerate it. I don't know why I used to tolerate more things now I seem to tolerate less so discoraging. With the holliday coming and my birthday I am getting very deperssed. I need ideas
bread
Nicole,Have you considered making your own bread? I have not attempted this yet but am interested in trying it out. Anyone out there been successful making a good yeast free bread? I tried this rice loaf- by Ener-G? but I did not like it at all! There has to be a good simple bread recipie out there and its probably cheaper to make it anyway. I know how you feel with the food sensitivities. When you are going through the cleanse it just seems like foods you once could tolerate even not so long ago just ain't happening. It has to be this simple diet while the heavy layers come off. It will get better and you will enjoy food again! I am enjoying foods that are so simple now a days-something as simple and basic as a leaf of romaine lettuce the other day was pretty amazing. This condition takes such endless patience but it will be so worth it. I have to keep forgetting my past- what I could eatback then and can't now! I have to stop feeling sorry for myself. It's the past this is now- I can eat a little bit of cheese and tolerate avocados well. I couldn't do that at all 5 months ago. I know you are frustrated because you have been through this before and you aren't at the level of wellness that you want to be at - but it will happen. your body will indeed start giving you energy from the food you eat. I feel the shift happening. In the beginning of my cleanse I was beyond exhausted. I still get really tired but I was eating sooo much pure wholesome food and I couldn't tell. Now after I eat I can feel the nutrients sinking in and immediately feel better. For years I felt malnourished -I guess I was nourishing the funky critters in my gut! Mary
breads/food
Mary, this message was just what I needed this morning in my frustration. It is true, I know, but get a bit shaky when a good day is followed by an uncomfortable one. Today's that day. Thank you. I am becoming confused about "flares". They used to be, for me, extreme pain right in the bladder area that only lying down and hot water bottle would help (a bit). Now, I have days of soreness and vulvadynia to the point that I cannot walk, but no bladder pain. I celebrate and then worry. So, in your experience would you call this die-off or a flare? Any sharing of your experience is very welcome.RE: BREAD...I am so happy with my bread that I know I will never return to yeast bread. It is made locally, but, I notice, has the same ingredients as the Pacific Bakery bread on the gentle products list. I didn't like the rice breads, couldn't tolerate the spelt breads , but this plain Kamut bread is just the ticket , delicious toasted. The baker tells me it is just flour and water and salt...so plan to look into making it. Best to you both, Lois

NicoleAre you on probiotics, yeast killers, or experiencing die off? I know that when I am on probiotics and having die off, I begin to exeperience more irritation and inflammation from certain foods, esp grains. Could that be part of the problem?
I am on probiotics and I am
I am on probiotics and I am experiencing die off on and off. I used to be able to tolerate these these grains. I didn know that during the cleansing times one would be more sensitive to them. I had not thought of that. ICnot4me thanks.
I used to and have tried to bake bread. With out eggs they also seem to flair me and gluten it is very hard. Ener-g has some things in it i can not have. I am not even looking at what I could eat pre Matia. I am looking at what i used to eat during treatment. I started this diet 8 yrs ago when i left treatment the last few yrs I didn't go off the diet i just added in a few things I felt I needed. My bladder seemed to do fine on them I think they were causing some yeast though I guess I wasn't ready for them.
Anyway thanks for the encouragemen Mary.
The main reason I want bread is because the rice tends to make me bloated even though my bladder tolerates it it's not 100 %. I was really wanting some toast thinking it would be easier on my digestion and I can do things with it. Once there is a bread I can make other things. It is amazing what one little added food does to open up a world of opertunities.

Lolo/Nicole
Lolo-If you get that recipie please pass it on - I been wanting to try the Kamut? ! I feel like I sometimes barely tolerate the spelt bread. Nicole- I saw a naturapath 4 years ago and we cleansed candida and other funky stuff out and it showed up during months of my treatment and then it didn't show up and then it would pop back up again and I was always going- Why didn't it show up before if it still was in body this whole time? why did/didn't I react to certain foods? It was hard to wrap my brain around this. There were foods I was tolerating back then that weren't bothering my bladder one bit and foods I am eating now that would have messed me up bad back then! The changes can be soo drastic but you are really right about how one food can open up a world of difference! Perhaps the reason you are tolerating less is because older layers of stuff is dying off or something and you body needs things to be very simple? while it sucks to be so limited its good if it means your cleansing is more thorough! Lolo- I am totally understanding what you are saying!I get the same thing- no bladder pain but sensitive vulvadynia sensations. I still get flares but they seem to be hormonalnow- and if I eat something or drink too much coffee or something. Before they were more random and just happened! I think there are other tissues besides the bladder that are experiencing dieoff or sensitivity ? and its normal. It may take some time to heal - but it will happen. I'm feeling this sensation where its not exactly bad bladder pain but more of astatic swollen discomfort sensation energy or like something is lodged in my urethra/first chakra/vagina. Its really strange and kind of annoying. wThe back and forth action with the ups and downs in how you can feel is sooo hard! you can almost kind of accept the constant pain- you know what to expect but with the back and forth- you feel totally let down when your good day doesn't last! but I am trying to see it as- okay its more work to be done we are actually moving forward its- not a return or a regression in the big picture which is total body health. Putting treatment timeline in proper perspective -and remembering that eventually patients start having more good days than bad ones is helpful. doing all this healthy stuff is going to have a positive effect and will reverse the damage. It's just going to happen eventually. It has to. waiting for that to fully manefest is the hard part. we will get there if we keep trying! thanks for the thoughts!
yeast free bread recipes
I've recently done a little experimenting with yeast free bread with recipes I found on the internet. I've tried both a country style loaf (round) and one that's made in a loaf pan. Both were very easy to make and were moist (especially compared to the pacific bakery bread I usually eat), they work well with soup. I feel like the recipes still need a little work, but my husband and kids all loved the bread so they are definitely edible :)
Loaf style:
3 cups whole grain flour (i've used spelt so far)
2 1/2 cups water
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 to 1/2 tsp sea salt
mix liquids and dry ingredients separately, then combine together and mix well. Place in greased and floured 9x5 loaf pan or 9x9 cake pan. bake at 400F for 35-50 minutes - or until a knife comes out clean and top is lightly browned. let cool in pan for 1/2 hour.
country loaf style - this one is a little more sticky to work with
3 cups whole grain flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup olive oil
mix dry ingredients. Do not sift flour! Mix liquids and add to dry. Stir until there is no more dry flour. Depending on the humidity of the air you may need a little more or less liquid. The dough should be moist but not sticky. It is important not to overwork the dough. Shape into a ball or oval with oiled hands, score the surface lightly in an X shape to prevent splitting of the crust. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 40 minutes at 400F. This is a country style bread and should be sliced thick.
Enjoy!
Thanks Carole...I'm looking

Spelt Biscuits for the Holidays?
Since Carol's yeast-free spelt bread turned out so fabulous, i was thinking about trying to make yeast free spelt biscuits for thanksgiving. Going to my in-laws place so figured I should bring a bread product I can actually partake in! Any one have any ideas? I looked on the internet but most of the recipes for spelt biscuits call for milk/buttermilk and i am only on List 1, so dairy is not part of my diet at this point (besides butter). I am a completely inept chef so I don't even know if it is possible to make biscuits without milk... but, since many of you seem to know your way around a kitchen much better than me, i figured I would throw the question out and see if anyone has any recipes to share. Thanks in advance!Jackie
