Can snacks be from just one food grouping (veggies/starches/protein)?

Re: the food groupings (veggies/starches/protein), can snacks can be from just one group or must every meal even snacks include all 3 to keep it balanced?

I'm also curious what kind of List 1 snacks people have come up with/found to help with the hunger between meals?  Specifics would help, like brands/types info... i.e. if it's rice cakes, what brand do you like? and is flavored allowed or just plain?

Thank you!! & hoping your generous info will help other List 1'ers as well...

This is a great thread.
I eat lundenburg plane rice cakes and  Holgrain brand plane crackers. The gluten free mall has them. I order a lot online. YOu can get pacific bakery online now btw. YOu need to order 4 loaves at a time though. I know I couldn't get them at my local store. It cost me 24. for  4 loaves and I got the spelt and the kamut. I am not sure I will tolerate the spelt as I haven't tolerated  spelt ina a long time but I am hoping the kamut is different. They don't use any oil either so the fact that it's so simple may be easier to digest.
I used to get the fat free tortillas from whole foods the whole foods brand but I no longer tolerate wheat anymore so I am not eating them. THey were white wheat not whole grain. Just water and flour. It may be ok for some so I thought i would  mention it.

I just got the Holgrain crackers & lundenberg rice cakes... really appreciate the tip!!  Helps w/ the in-between meal munchies a bit.  Good to know we can order online as well.  Yes, I'm lucky to have Pacific Bakery bread in my Whole Foods, but I also plan to try Mary's bread recipe as several people have recommended.  I'll have to look out for tortillas with just water & flour.  Every one I saw at Whole Foods had at least several other ingredients in them which didn't look ok.  Again, thanks for this helpful info.  Maybe we should start a new thread entitled List 1 snack ideas b/c people might've overlooked this one since the subject is if snacks can be in the same group?

your welcome The tortillas I was eating were the whole foods 365 brand and they were the fat free ones. I know it is hard.  Grains I think are especially hard and that is what a lot of snacks seem to relvolve around. I am dieing for the day I can spread some nut butter on my rice cake. That to me will be heaven. See what simple pleasures I miss I don't even care about the sugar I just want some normalcy. I know I will get it but its sooo hard sometimes. I used to also put egg on my rice cake that became a nice breakfast. I know those of you who can tolerate avacado that is nice to spread too. I try to eat protien and veggies For snacks as well just smaller portions. I love to use my pressure cooker and make artichokes. The cook up in 10 min that way. I cut them in half. and scoop out the thistle thats the pricly part and  then when they are done i put butter in the spot where i dug out the thistles sprinkle it with some salt and just dip the leaves in and eat it. They are very filling for those of you who tolerate them.

... because I asked Matia and she said yes, snacks can be from just one group.  (Could've meant ok just for me, since our treatments & bodies are all different, but wanted to pass this along if it's helpful to anyone else.)

I'm glad to see that you are going to start the diet. Fresh red meats, pork, lamb, fish or fowl are OK. No sandwich meat, ham, sausage or cured meats.
