How long do you intend to stay? The last time I went up I got a vacation home because it cost just as much as a hotell and then i was able to cook.
I usually use orbitz to book my flights. LAX is also kinda far I used to live there and I am now a long distance patient. You will want to rent a car while your there. Even if you fly into Long beach which is kinda sketchy but closer you would still want a car. IF you want to email me I can get you more detailed information on this.I have a whole file i have made on visiting Matia. I have made Maps to WHole foods from her office and grocrie stores car rentals a coffee shop with internet acess that is close by. Give me a shout out with your dates and I can help ya out.

I actually decided I should just post this in here.
I called Andy the owner of the rental place where I stayed to get an update on the price as it was a few yrs ago. The good thing about now is that it is not season there so your going to get a better deal. I went for a week.
Place of stay $900.wk pluss $100. cleaning fee. There is a large bathroom and seprate living room, kitchen cichen is very nice gas stove and oven, very large. There is a claw foot bathtub and it leads out to the ocean. It will take you 15 min local roads to Matia and 5 min expressway to get to Matia's contact Andy Worswick1317 palisades bch rd.Santa Monica CA 310-383-8807
There are other rentals i found this via http://www.vrbo.com/
make sure you ask for extra pictures when you book these places.
If you do not intend to stay a lenth of time and want to rent a hotel you can also use orbitz to book a hotell. Mati's office is in an expensive safe area and I want to note that surrounding areas of LA can be kinda sketchy so please ask if your trying to save cash and stay in near by places. LA can have some bad pockets.

I use orbitz to book my flight and I fly into LAX. You can get a bus shuttle for a cheeper price then a cab in case you don't want to rent  a car. You would use prime time for this http://www.primetimeshuttle.com/airportshuttlelax.htm
just brace yourself for a crazy ride. THey are in a bit of a rush and often are a little unfarmilar with the road but i never had any real problems because there is generally enough locals in them to get you home safe.
It is 20 min with out traffic from LAX to the rental and about 25 to Matia's office.
Do not use a car rental that is not in the terminal I had real bad experienc trying to save cash this way and ending up spending more if not the same. Save your self the hassle when you book with orbitz use one in the terminal.
here are a list of places you might find helpful they are all very close to the office.

I need to correct the price on that rental from Andy I just spoke to him.
It is 200. a night. In comparrison to most hotells it is about the same. The hotels in the area range from 80-200 and up. I thought saving on food it was worth the extra money because I was stayed 2 weeks when i went and had a few sessions and saw the sites.

Hi,  I went to see Matia a year ago, and I had a lot of questions too.  I used Expedia to book a flight and hotel.  My husband and I stayed at the Marriot LAX for $99.00 a night.  We took a shuttle (free) from the airport to the hotel.  In the morning, we took a taxi (ask the hotel to call one) to Dr. Brizman's office, and then called another taxi after my appt. Total taxi: $50.  The hotel had nice restaurants.  We then took a tour of Los Angeles. Arrangements for the tour were made by the hotel.  We really enjoyed it.  We took a shuttle to the airport the next day.  I hope all goes well with your trip.  E Salinas

Torey I think that is pushing it for time.  I think that the appointment is 1.5 hours.  That takes you till 1;00.  If I recall right I think that it took me about 1/2 an hour with a shuttle from my hotel to the airport and I was fairly close to Matia's office.  I would just be worried if traffic was bad.  How much time do you need to arrive before your flight?   I get a little stressed about stuff like that.  You would more than likely get to the airport on time as long as all went smoothly.  I am not sure if this helps but good luck.
