hey i was wondering if anyone else has the swollen belly problem. my stomach always looks like im pregnant, i feel like im carrying a ball around. the diet has helped the pain go away, but now i just have annoying pains kind of like little spasms, feelings like things are moving in my bladder. sometimes i get this annoying sensation that something is falling out of me and pressure? also i have these awful tension headaches that make my jaw hurt,is this a problem for anyone else?

I just wanted to say that I have had a lot of bloating too.  I also get bad headaches, some of which are migraines.  They can extend down into my jaw.  I also have TMJ.  I hope this helps.

I've read several posts about these two feelings. If you put either  of these titles in the search window you will be able to read previous posts on these. Glad to hear the diet is helping you already. That is a very good sign and I think it will speed your recovery. Hope this helps. Tammy

i used to get this all the time in the early days not as bad or as much anymore. It is very common I think everyone I talk to goes through this process it's a normal symptom and it should go away in time. I know some people take a long time to heal there bloating but don't get discorged it will happen. I even named mine Phil.

i think i may have came down with a uti. i woke up yesterday with really bad back pain and my bladder feels really full and sore. not a typical feeling i usually have with ic. i refuse to take any medicine if i dont have too, does anyone know if this is something that will go away and i can ride it out? i dont see matia for another week and am just wondering what to do in the mean time.

I would email her right away and tell her she can send you herbs for this or send you to the health food store.

have you emailed Matia about these symptoms?  It is possible to get an infection on top of ic.  I would ask her what to do asap

I think most of us can relate to feeling like our bodies were falling apart. Don't worry you will get better! When my IC was at its worst my back and hip pain was so bad. My hips felt hot, like they were on fire, the only thing that offered me any relief was ice packs. I am so much better now and you will be too. Carol

It is very normal to have what you describe- I felt that too. I had some mild improvement in my pain in the beginning with the diet change and herbs but it took about 7 months for me to experience some consistantcy in my sensations or lack of sensations. I felt all kinds of werid things/syntomns. I think looking back- all the werid syntomns are just our body slowly rebalencing itself in response to the treatment. Expect changes and then also expect things to get werid and know that with time your bladder will heal and you won't notice it so much. I'm in my 8th month and I have days where I really don't think about my bladder much- there is a sensation of empty calm in my pelvic region where there used to be unbearable tension/pain ,bloating and fullness/heaviness-bowling ball feeling. Be strict as possible on the diet and communicate in detail with Matia about your health. Take copious notes on your changes day to day- they are such an excellent indicator of progress for Matia and then you can see how far you ahve come. you are on your way! Its an extremely slow cumultive process-positive changes are underway even now and they will build over time into real health. I never thought it would happen for me and it most definatley has!thanks for sharing.Mary

Angel,This seems to be a really common question for people in treatment - it was for me at times and my ultimate answer regarding this in my experience is this- people including myself have reported feeling worse and it kind of depends on the circumstances and details  as to why and if that is something that is okay or not.  yes I have felt a formula help me out for a few days  and then I felt like it was making me "worse" but I  am not sure it was actually the formula making me worse so much  as maybe I just wasn't ready for that particualr herb dosage or it was the fact that my Ic in the beginning was really unstable and unpredictable and I was sensitive to so many things. Is it definately the herbs? It might be the right formula for you but maybe just a bad day for flaring? or maybe its not the right formula and you need a tweak til you get it right. or maybe its a flare that will pass or maybe its your body adjusting to the herbs? it takes time to figure these things out but it always a good idea to ask. everyone is different in thier treatment path but we can have similiar stories and experiences. keep that in mind always! I could usually tell after I took them if they were helping or not and I sometimes felt they helped right away but at other times it seemed that I would burn after taking them a little bit but then later I would notice  overall I felt better over the weeks on a cumulative scale. that make sense? . Ideally we should not have to feel worse to feel better! if it was intense but I thought I could ride it out as a temporary thing I somtimes  did and the formula ended up being right and made me feel better for the rest of the time but its also good to know that we can have rapid changes and adjustments might be necessary- its hard to say so that's why I think- if you aren't sure - and you feel worse then I would shoot Matia an email describing your situation if you have not already- or check to make sure its not something else causing you to feel worse. Matia doesn't mind at all. she is soo cool about things like that. I did that quite a bitjust to make sure that the formula was right for me at that time. sometimes its that the microbes or yeasties or whatever the herbs are can be killing off stuff and that can be uncomfortbale but if it was ever really like unbearable I would write Matia and let her know-" hey I'm really uncomfortable and can't handle this! can we change it up or should I hang on and push through?"  In the beginning I didn't really understand how important it was to minimize the environmental elements that I was exposed to - things in the air like air freshener my co workers used  to things like soap,- (dish and hand laundry detergent sunscreen )and if I cleaned with a product and got bleach on myself accidentally - these were all things that I didn't quite get how important these things are to our health. We are really sensitive to things like this.  I begin to use the same spring water and not jump around brands which  also had astabilizing  positive effect. I checked to see if vitamin E was in my soap/shampoo -( it was so I found a brand that was more gentle and didn't have vitamin e or anything else that I might be sensitive to.) Another time I found out that there was rosemary extract in the ground turkey meat I bought and that was flaring me big time but it wasn't clear on the package  label that it was on there! Things like that could be influencing how you feel.  Sometimes I found out that it wasn't the formula that was making me worse but actually it was something else - like a shampoo or a soap or a food that I was not ready for or had ingredient that made me flare. Sometimes the herbs were working but I was just going through periods of inflammation from hormones fluctuating- my period or something or sometimes you just are flaring and hurting and its hard to pin down the cause. It could be that the formula you are on needs a little adjustment - for example I have had moments where I tolerated a new formula for a few days and then it just got to be too much and we needed to back it down a little bit but then later on I was great with that earlier amount that at first was too much. It really depends and it can be tough in the beginning stages when everything regarding pain levels is kind of all over the place anyway. For me I had sooo much inflammation in my body that things like - car rides or too much avocado or even smelling perfumed candles bothered me and could aggravate my bladder. It was horrible!  But you will stablizie eventually and it will get t othe point where you can actually pin point the things that cause you pain or discomfort right away and you can avoid them or they don't bother you so much anymore.  Sometimes I would take a formula- it would make me feel good at first then a few hours later make me feel kind of bad and then later I would feel much much better. I tried to give my formula about 2-3 days to get an idea of whether or not it was working or not. sometimes it was apparent right away. sometimes it seems like the way we react to certain things- good or bad reactions to things we put in our sytems- medicines/ herbs /foods is good information and clues to where we are and what we need- even if we need to get an adjustment to the formula a few times  maybe each time- it may be actually help Matia understand something important about your particular case of IC. she sees and learns new things all the time and that is why she is so good at this- cause she has seen many cases of ic -I am often amazed at her understanding of this condition.  I hope this was helpful and not confusing. Ic is complex and very diverse! thanks!peace be with youMary
