Water

How much water do other patients drink in a day? I can't manage 2 litres - its too much - I am fairly small and its cold as UK winter now, the most I manage is 4 or 5 glasses (I measure a glass as being 1/4 litre).

Also, on other support sites, some ICers say its best to sip water slowly over the day rather than drink a whole glass at a time - leads to less frequency/urgency; and that warm water is less diuretic than cold.

Any thoughts?

THere is not really a set standard answer for  how much you should drink but yes sipping through out the day will prevent you from being dehydrated. From what I understand that is the best way to go. I wouldn't stres out about   it. It sounds like you should be fine.

Hi Jane, try to drink warm or hotwater.  That is better for you anyway.  Your body is warm and it needs warm water.  You could also drink it hot, kind a like you would drink tea.  I also had trouble drinking water in beginning of the treatment but now it is not a problem any more.  My husband and I  found that we had such trouble drinking water before.  When I started treament with Dr Matia I learned to drink this wonderful water and so did my husband (because he started the diet around the same time I did, he wanted to help me getting through this and said we would do everything together)  Now we love water, it is so good. I do drink some teas these days but hotwater I drink plenty during the day.  I drink it warm or hot and sometimes room tempurature.  I can not drink cold water.  Part of my life I was raised by a chinese family and when I was young they always told me not to drink cold water or cold drinks.  I would laugh and do my own thing.  How right they were.  What I have learned through Dr Matia's teachings the memories all came back.  Our body is not cold.  So we need to drink warm.  Cold water is a shock to our internal body the organs and tissues and can disturbe balance.  We learned that we have to learn to drink water.OK, I hope this helps.  Sip the hotwater :)  Your body needs it (at least 8 glasses).  You will see you are going to crave water after some time. Angela.

Thanks Angela for yr reply. It makes a lot of sense to me to avoid cold water. I don't understand why people have ice in their soft drinks, it must be such a shock to the digestive system. Your family were wise. I guess room temperature water is fine as well in a hot climate/season? UK climate is cold for much of the year - especially the further north you go so I think I will stick to warm water. Thanks for your sharing your insights.

if your craving water your waiting too long to drink the water. Sipping all day will insure you get the proper amount. I never liked cold water inless i really worked up an intense sweat mowing the lawn or something but i bet it's still not great for you. I drink my water at room temp or hot it helps with digestion i find. I have one of those water taps with the hot and cold taps on it.  I just started getting my water delivered from Mountain valley spring. This is the water Matia uses in her office. They charge me 17. for a 5 gallon glass bottle.
