Hi, This month marks one year of treatment with Dr. Brizman. I have had many weeks when I have experienced no symptoms whatsoever. I even went for two months symptom free. Needless to say, I thought I was headed toward recovery. Now, though, new symptoms have come up. My bladder hurts whereas it rarely did before. My main problem was vag. irritation and burning. My back also feels like it is burning. Many of you have said that your symptoms have worsened in the beginning, but what about further into treatment? Is it "normal" to regress when things are going so well ? Thanks for listening.........I hope all is well for everyone. esalinas
return of symptoms
I too have had a couple of months of feeling close to symptom free only to have old symptoms return and sometimes have new ones appear. It does feel like you're going backwards, but it's happened to me enough times (I've been with Matia for 4 years) that I don't feel too worried when it happens. Matia has explained to me that your body is not static, it is always changing. Sometimes herbs that worked great for me in the past were irritating to me in the present. Make sure you email her and let her know that you are having an increase in your symptoms. Sometimes it's just a matter of adjusting your herbs. And sometimes it's because your body is working on eliminating another layer of imbalance, and that can be uncomfortable. Don't worry, you will get better. Carol
Long time patients
Carol it is great to have people on here responding that have been in treatment for awhile like your self. Thank you.

I can't imagine if you have been doing everything as you should for your health that its a regression- although I know it feels like that. I have had syntomns return that I have not had since early treatment and I found that very scary.! but then they went away after a few weeks- and have not returned since. I think Carol is right- your body is probably healthy enough to reveal a new layer of imbalence that was really deep in there and is now ready to heal it? Better now than later! Get it all out! I was thinking that I could be done with this whole thing in one year but when I look at all the success stories many of them seem to have been about roughl 2-3 years to get really back on track all the way. Like I think after one year alot of progress is made in cleansing but it might take me more realistically an additional year 1/2 to really get things back in balence but who knows- maybe I'll hit a place where things get really intense and I'll feel worse for another year and it takes me 3-4 years or more to get well- that would be really hard but I know its worth it to have the rest of my life be healthy. Carol has been working at it for 4 years and ICnot4me has been working with Matia for a long time too- some folks who have been real sick and real out of balence it may even longer and that okay too cause I bet they will all in the end get there! We have regeneration powers and there is a path way to healing for everyone. I know I am getting better but somtimes the fight wears me out -this process of staying deeply aware of my body's changes and that can be really exhausting- am I better? am I better? what is going on now? I look forward to the maintenance stage where I am confident that the choices I make everyday support my body and health and I don't have to think about it so much. things can change for the better really rapidly. I try to stay positve when I get a regressive looking syntoms- its a good sign that I'm getting it all out now! Its sooo hard to be patient. That is the real challenge with IC. Patience. You are moving forward even though it feels backwards- don't panic! you made some great progress and now you can make some more- maybe this point of treatment will finally help you get to the root of the vulvadynia stuff-that seems to be more of my issue these days than the bladder stuff but I think it is defeitnlay normal to flip back and forth on those issues. I have to sometimes renew my efforts in the energy I put itno my treatments- food preaparation or affirmations or spiritual support or whathave you or just clear some space in my heart for a deep patience and then really put my trust/faith in the innate wisdom of the brilliant inner physician that lives inside the miraculous body temple! Matia and you and the natural healing process of your body are all working really hard to bring it all back into balence. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. You all seroiusly mean the world to me and I am always sending good energy/positive thoughts to the IC/Icama folks! Mary
Thanks
Thank you everyone who answered. I have spoken to Matia and we decided I was not ready for some of the foods on my current list. She assured me that I can get my body healthy again. I have learned my lesson...do not hurry the healing process. Our bodies know how much they can take. Just reading the responses encouraged me. I truly appreciate the help. Good luck to all. ESalinas
hey i was wondering if anyone
hey i was wondering if anyone has felt pain radiate towards one side of their more than the other? mine is the left side. the left side of my bladder, groin.leg, and back seem to be where alot of my pain goes.
left sided pain
Torey most of my pain was left sided I was almost convinced that I must have cancer but due to the fact that this pain has improved so much my anxiety has gone way down. Matia says that a majority of the lymphatic system is on the left side and so this would be where alot of the toxins would be. I am not sure if you are working with Matia yet but do talk to her she will explain this to you.
thanks kristie! yes i am in
thanks kristie! yes i am in treatment with matia im going to def mention it to her. yea its scary and weird when one side of your body feels like its falling apart compared to the other, but i guess thats just another crazy symptom of this whole thing!
hair and skin
hey everyone. i am wondering if anyone has had problems with skin and hair? i feel my hair is thinning and ive had horrible acne issues. im wondering if this is due to ic or maybe stress related to the ic. matia said acne can happen, i forgot to mention the hair issue. what does everyone use for skin and hair that will not cause a flare up?
Yup, me too.
Hi Torey,
Yes, I'm dealing with both. My heart goes out to you!! I did before I started w/ Matia, which was another signal things were systemically wrong. My hair has not only thinned considerably but in June started getting oily and flat at the scalp which it never had before. The hair oiliness is better since Matia's treatment, but hair growth Matia said will follow 6 months? after you're better -- takes longer. But the acne's now gotten worse w/ the treatment, which she said usually happens (if that's the way your body is used to eliminating, as the skin is one major eliminative organ). She also said it should be clearing after 3-4 months for me at least, though I'm not so sure.
I would also be curious if more people are dealing with this??? You know, you'd think with real physical IC pain that would be my sole focus but my face absolutely erupting (and leaving scars everywhere) is so devastating. I know all the reasons to not let it get me down -- that things are coming out, that something's happening, that it should go away once I'm balanced, that I should be grateful enough that I've found Matia -- but that doesn't help one bit for me with the anger/sadness/self-consciousness over my skin. I look in the mirror each day and want to cry. I don't want to go out, meet with clients, be in bright light, be up close with people.... I just feel totally disgusting. I always wear coverup, but the heavy makeup I usually don't wear b/c it's so obvious, still doesn't cover bumps and is hard to get off.
Thanks for letting me vent, people.
Acne
Is your skin oily? When I had spots and oily skin I found that sunshine made a big difference - dried up the oil and cleared the spots. Need to start slow of course, u don't want to burn, but build up gradually, also depends on yr skin type - how long to stay in the sun, and the climate you're living in. (Living in the UK, we don't have enough sun!)Many people are afraid of the sun - they think wrinkles, or worse, skin cancer but like everything moderation is the key. The other factors I can think of are u drinking enough water? Also, daily bowel movements? What products are u using on your skin?
Hi Jane, Thanks for
Hi Jane,
Thanks for replying. I'll consider moderate sun -- can't hurt. Yes, always very oily skin. I have found in the past that the sun helps, but now w/ having so many scars from all these pimples was afraid the sun would darken the scar spots even more. And yes, doing everything else right -- drinking 64 oz water, daily bms, etc. Only using a deep cleanser now b/c Matia doesn't want any acne treatments or other potions that stay on the skin altering what she's doing -- cleanser at least washes off, so maybe if you have any good cleanser suggestions? Or anything else to at least consider/ask Matia?
That said, before I started w/ her I was trying all sorts of things and nothing helped... probably b/c it's a systemic issue, which of course is what she's treating now.

ic
hey. i am having some symptoms that are kind of scaring me:( but matia says its normal but i need to hear from others who have experinced these. well i had really bad stomach aches and pains like right in the middle of my stomach where the belly button area is. im thinking it may be gas pains, and i am having nausua and smells are affecting me. and i also have been having horrible headaches and head tension, and i always feel really shaky. the back pain is horrible too.
Torey
It is normal! It doesn't sound normal it doesn't feel normal but it is typical die off sensations I remember in the beginning of treatment-I was feeling the back pain in my right side. I've had bad headaches and it seemed like I had terrible nausea/stomach issues from yeast/bacteria/paracites before treatment with Matia and going through initial cleanses before Matia I had syntoms like you describe for sure. AS well as stomach pain and gas cramps and being mega constipated/bloated. What you are talking about are all syntomns either I have had or others have had at some point. It is annoying and uncomfortable but will pass- n i'm now having weeks where I don't get alot of syntomns- I am still cleansing for sure but it seems like the intense episodes are just happening more& more further apart and with less severity but a doozy will erupt every couple weeks. It gets better!
Torey
The sensitivities to smell is something I can relate to as well- this has mellowed a bit so not everything is so intense or nauseous inducing. I can't like walk up in some place like Bath and Bodyworks and be very comfortable and certain chemicals like cleaners or dishsoap are really too much. I can taste it on dishes so I switched to one that was fragrance free! I think it will be nice to smell and taste food so intensly because as an ex-smoker I thought I had lost my sense of smell forever. I imagine when your body gets more probiotics? and gets the funky stuff under control it it will have a better time digesting things.
