Nicole - I drink the pacific organic original unsweetened. I've tried the almond breeze that Matia recommends on her list but it has a little bit of soy in it and that seemed to irritate me. carol
- On what list level is almond milk ok?
- And does anyone know is rice milk ok? and if so, at what list level?
One brand of rice milk has just filtered water, brown rice, sea salt and sunflower/safflower/canola oil, but I don't know if that last one is an issue?
I had an appointment with Matia last week and mentioned rice milk because I'd been using it in coffee/recipes and even just drinking it warm sometimes. I don't think it ever bothered me but she said not to drink it. I'm assuming it's because of the oil but don't know. She said almond milk was at the end of list 2, maybe list 3? I miss milk a lot, no matter what kind...!
Hi Nicole,
Here's a recipe for Almond Milk.
1 cup organic almonds
4-6 cups pure water
Soak almonds 10-12 hours rinse well. If you want a clean white milk then blanch almonds to remove skins.
Blend in blender with water and strain with sieve or cheesecloth. If you want a thicker milk add less water; for thinner milk, add more water.
Later in treatment milk can be sweetened with agave syrup or dates. (and maybe honey?)
Sometimes I don't strain the milk - I just use it as is.
I'm on list 2. I love almond milk too. I used to use it on my gluten free cereal which is not allowed now. When I start drinking almond milk once I get to list 3, what can I put it on? I don't care to just drink it plain.
There is this great kamut cereal, with nothing but kamut in it. It is great with almond milk! I know there are a few companies that make it, just ask in your healthfood store.
