Hey Everyone,
Like many other people I have been reading posts for, I am struggling with consistent flares and have been for about the last month or so. Prior to a couple weeks ago, these were relatively mild but still concerning; and despite keeping a food/pain journal I have been unable to identify a specific culprit for these flares (and I have been very strict with my diet/herbs).
A little over a week and a half ago, I had a consultation with Matia and she increased my bifido factors from two capsules twice daily, to three capsule twice daily. She said she felt this would get rid of any lingering symptoms. But within a couple days I started having flare ups that were more painful than any I have experienced since I started treatment almost a year ago. I gave a couple days to see what would happen before emailing Matia. She told me that many people have a temporary reaction to an increase in Bifido Factors and recommend I scale back a bit to 2.5 capsules instead of three and allow my body time to adjust. Of course, I trust Matia and her knowledge/experience; but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. If so, what was the outcome? Did you eventually adjust? How long did it take? Or did you end up having to have another adjustment?
Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm just really suffering and would appreciate any support and insight you have to offer. Thanks!
bifido factor
I have never fully understood why but I definately have experienced some major pain with the increase in bifido factor at different points in my treatment. In the beginning I couldn't accept it at all and we scaled it back a little bit and that was not enough so we scaled it back some more and that still wasn't enough and finally we found an amount I could tolerate and it was like 1/2 bif and 3 sips. It took about 6 months? until I could accept one whole bif and then later I moved up to 2 whole bifs. Then I reached a point where the bif was not what my body needed maybe and we took it out for quite some time. we added it back in and sometimes it accepted it right away and other times it didn't. When we added it back in this last time my body wanted to reject it at first. Iit took about a total of 10 days and an adjustment but my body began to tolerate it and it took a few more weeks before it was really feeling good. right now I am on 3 bif and feel awesome. I thought my body was NEVER going to tolerate it cause the reaction and flare I had was pretty terrible. There have been times when we tried the bif and it wasn't happening at all and changed diection entirely. This is normal to wind and turn like a twisty mountain road on the treatment path. I can be doing great on a formula for a week or two or three or 4 and all the sudden - (note: in this scenario nothing has changed at all in my diet or my environment BTW) I feel really bad and am having a flare or burning! What happened to cause this? Detox sometimes does this and it passes or sometimes it just time for a change in formula. also consider hormones impacting how you are tolerating your herbs/probiotics In general if I don't feel a positive impact from the herbs and( at times i get a positive right away) - then I give it about 3 days- I take notice of my symtoms- the qualities that I am experiencing - heat, joints hurt, rashes... sometimes these are clues to hang in there or change it up. If I feel a small increase in improvement but not much more I give it about 7days and if its not going anywhere for me - no changes or positives at all and if I'm getting crazy symptoms that I've never had before I email Matia for her guidance. sometimes she tells me to sit tight and so many countless times she has been right on the money and the formula blossoms into a nice reliefor sometimes we just needed to tweak the formula a little bit and its just right! somtimes there are times when you hit the microbes kind of hard and endure discomfort although without trying to increase the inflammation too - that is a tricky balance to get right it seems! so there is no one answer for this that is 100 all the time. I am getting a little bit of a "sense" with my herbs and food & probiotics where I can kind of tell somehow what is subtley working and what is not working but I always give it time to play out. forget how long you are in treatment- when your body gets stronger I think it has an easier time tolerating the changes. I adjust to the bif much quicker than I did in the beginning. sending warm healing energy and hope you find improvement soon. Thanks! Mary
Bifidus
I don't tolerate bifidus at all. It makes my bladder flare really bad. I have had problems all along with all the probiotics causing major bowel problems. After the last time of trying for 4 months and things kept getting worse instead of better, I gave up and quit them.
