Forums:
so, i just started adding grains back into my diet after a few months (yay!) and the latest "treat" that i am enjoying is hot cereal made with eden brown rice flakes (from Whole Foods). prior to treatment, i used to eat plain oatmeal with bananas EVERY morning, so needless to say, i have been feeling MAJORLY deprived for the last year. any hoo... i just ventured to try these brown rice flakes the other day to make a make-shift oatmeal and i am pleasantly surprised by how good it is. if i could eat fruit, it would be GREAT. now, this is all coming from someone who has been grain starved for months, so its possible anything would taste good to me right now. BUT, still wanted to share in case anyone on the early lists of the diet is looking for something new/safe to add. the only ingredient is brown rice.
Congrats! By the way...
Congrats! By the way, I think their kamut ones are even tastier! Great as breakfast cereal. Early food listers can have w/ almond milk if approved by Matia. LOL re: any grain tasting good to you!
Bob's Red Mill rice flakes
Bob's Red Mill has rice flakes as well.
u were allowed to eat oatmeal
u were allowed to eat oatmeal with bannanas???
Dazz
I think the oatmeal and banans were before treatment. I just tried to rice flakes. Hopefully, I can tolerate them. They were delicious :o)
hot brown rice cereal
I couldn't find the brown rice flakes at my Whole foods but I have been trying the Arrowhead Mills organic rice and shine hot cereal. It tastes great with butter and salt and feels comforting as the weather is getting colder. The only ingredient is organic brown rice grits.
rice & shine rocks
i tried this brand too and i actually like it more than the flakes i originally got. you are so right. it is really such a great comfort food now that it's getting colder. and as an fyi... i actually tried the spelt flakes for hot cereal too, thinking it would be so much better than the brown rice and it totally wasn't. so for those of you who think you are missing out because you can't do the more "exciting" grains like spelt at this point (yes, i actually referred to spelt as exciting... can you tell i'm seriously deprived in the food dept? :) - you really aren't! i know it's a small thing, but it was a gratifying revelation for me...

hot cereal
Also a great hot cereal as winter is upon us - Bob's Red Mill kamut hot cereal, only ingredient kamut. W/ a little butter it's so yummy & only takes 10 min to cook. I make a batch so it lasts several days.
