Hello everyone
I just wanted to write up a new technique I tried last night with a very good friend of mine who I run the reiki workshop with.
After a really bitter row with my partner Tony on Friday, I decided to try a new system that anyone can do to build up positive energy and wellbeing. You do not have to be a reiki master to do this and if you are like me and hate meditation and can't sit still for two long, this is ideal.
One thing I have established with IC is that due to constantly feeling low, I feel negative and I hate it. It rubs off on Tony, my dogs, and even permeates the walls of my house causing a rotten atmosphere. I hate being like this. I know that many of us are so tired out by coping with the effects of IC that we feel like we are hollow, and have nothing left to give. The act of explaining the illness/our moods over and over and over again to loved ones or friends is exhausting...and lets face it even if a loved one knows the score they still get fedup of being around a 'victim'....then the knock on effect is we feel like a lesser human being. Well no more girls lol!
The universe is full of energy...waiting to be tapped into. Not a lot of people bother though which is a shame. So last night, we did something called 'The High Guard' technique which allows the individual to pull in that positive, loving energy to fill the void left. The idea is every day, even if it is just for 10 minutes before bed, or in the bath, you concentrate on 3 chakras in the body and 'fill' them with this white light. It is just visualisation. This daily practice will 'top you up' with positive vibes so that you can do your high guard technique.
So part 1...filling the chakras. We will be working with 3 chakras, you can spend a couple of minutes or more on each one. The first chakra is the sacral chakra, located just above the tummy button. The second is the heart chakra, and the third is the mind chakra, or 'third eye' located on the forehead.
Sitting/lying in a comfy position place your hand over your sacral chakra. The sacral chakra is the grounding chakra which connects you to your earthly roots and grounds you. It gives you security. Now imagine a ball of white, golden or blue light glowing around that area. Breathe in white light. As you exhale, imagine exhaling red or black mist and clear out that negative crap. If you want, also move your hand around in circles over the sacral point as if pushing the energy into the chakra. Do this for as long as you want...it is the intent that counts you don't have to be a meditation guru!
Next move up to the heart chakra. This is the most important one for us. Touch the area and imagine pink light filling your heart. Breathe in that loving pink/white light. Exhale the negative red/black mist. When you breathe in think of a moment in your life where you felt yourself well up with love and pride. This could be a happy memory, perhaps of your first child being born, your wedding day, anything that makes you feel the love lol! For me it's my dog so there you go can be anything. Really focus on that feeling and imagine that light pushing into your chest and filling the heart chakra.
Right onto the final chakra, the third eye. Place your hand on your forehead just above the eyes. Imagine white, blue or golden light filling the mind chakra. Breathe in the light, exhale the darkness. Again do this for a few minutes or as long as you want.
Once we have 'charged' all three chakras we will create our high guard. Imagine you are pulling up an imaginary zipper. As you inhale deeply start at your pubic bone and run your hand up and just above your head. Whilst you are doing this, imagine a pillar of white/golden or blue enrgy being formed. This pillar can be as big as you want. Imagine it extending above your head and beyond your feet. What this symbolises is the merging of the energy into the other chakras. So the sacral will spread into the root chakra, heart chakra will spread to solar plexus/throat chakra ect.
Once you have imagined this great pillar of light, exhale and start to visualise 4 sides coming down from the top forming a pyramid around you. Imagine the base forming under your feet and this pyramid of light completely enveloping you. This is your high guard, the wall of energy that will shield you daily. In other words...people may throw their negativity at you, but you won't give a monkeys. It's not your baggage, so why should you carry it? This bit is fairly quick, but once activated is very effective. A high guard usually protects you for 2-3 days.
You can imagine this pyramid as big as you like...I did it around my entire house. Really exhale or blow out as the walls of your pyramid come down...blast out that negative energy like you are blowing it away. You can do it round your car, your pets, kids, ect.
If you do the beginning of the excercise daily, you will always be topped up. You cannot create a high guard without charging your chakras first, after all, the energy has to come from somewhere to do this. If you find you have negative energy in your home, ie, after a fight with your dearly beloved, so long as your are 'charged' you can stand in the room and blow out the negative energy, whilst using your arms to push away the imaginary walls. It really works...today, not even a particular work colleague is getting me down. In fact, I don't give a hoot hurrah!
Remember...dis-ease thrives when you are uneasy and distressed...so get some of that free universal energy and build yourself up. I also do a 'cutting the ties' meditation for anyone that is interested...that basically cleans the slate after a day interacting with people. Very good if you are one for taking stuff personally or feeling sorry for yourself!

Wow- this is an amazing post
Wow- this is an amazing post and took a long time to type. Thanks, I will try it.Do you know of anything to help us stick to the diet? I do great when in pain but when I feel good, I seem to break down and eat more sugar foods. I wonder if this technique would work. This will fit in great with my yoga. I really believe in positive thinking.
