What kinds of meats is everyone eating? I am just curious. Like as far as how much red meat, fish or chicken a week? I just read Matia's old post on tilapia and was disapointed. It is so good, and affordable. But I guess that should tell you something : /
I am worried that I eat too much red meat right now... even though I usually get all my red meat from whole foods. I eat it as much as 4-5 times a week. I also eat fish and chicken, and shrimp maybe once a week.

At the beginning of treatment and usually for some time Matia recommends red meat every day if you can... helps us to heal for many reasons and supposedly helps with pain too (though I personally haven't been able to link red meat days w/ feeling better). The top choice -though not necessary to get well- is grass-fed, organic lean meats. She also advises eating chicken and turkey more than fish, again for the same reasons. This is just for while in treatment, not advocating for general health.
Meat
I eat organic beef usually two or three times per week. I just don't worry about it. I only tolerate chicken once in awhile, and I don't tolerate turkey at all. I eat mostly fish (haddock, flounder, cod, salmon, shrimp, scallops, etc.).

During the last meeting Matia said she wanted ALL of us to be eating red meat one meal per day that is every day. She said later when we are well that we should eat it once a week.
Another view on red meat
I just want to say that I don't eat red meat at all even tho Matia would like me to. I have got better - about 85% so far - without eating it. Been in treatment for 15 months. I don't know if eating red meat would have got me better quicker - I'll never know. Just wanted to reassure anyone who really can't face eating red meat that, for me (a former vegetarian of many years), it has not stopped me getting better. I know another UK patient who has also recovered without eating red meat. I eat chicken, turkey and fish.

I'm not tolerating chicken or turkey so I eat red meat for 2 meals everyday! I know it feels like a lot of red meat! Back in the day, I used to be a vegetarian and couldn't imagine putting down a whole steak with a potatoe. ;) I think its hard for me to digest. but have noticed that eating it has helped some bad flares. We need the red meat to heal tissue and rebuild. While eating I try to picture healing tissue in my bladder/intestines.~shar

all your impute. Wow, I had heard that Matia wanted us to eat red meat if we could, but I didn't know that she said everyday is ok. I really like red meat, and always buy the Organic grass fed of late. I also use good chicken. But the whole thing with the Tilapia got me thinking about fish. I eat Mahi mahi and cod and salmon and shrimp (i like shrimp once in awhile, but I always feel like maybe I shouldn't, it is kind of gross bottom feeder?) Does anyone else refrain from Tilapia because of the sex change thing? I am not surprised though, because I always wondered why it was so affordable but good... but then I noticed when I got started the SF722 that it is from Tilapia????ThankKelsey

I am so happy that you are doing 85% better! That is so encouraging (though I know I can't compare it to my case, we are all so different). What list of food are you on, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm on List 4 but not eating everything on it as I found the extra virgin olive oil tastes too strong for me at the mo and I'm not drinking tea (out of choice) and not got courage to try oranges/tangerines yet.

If you put Tilapia in the search box, a lot will come up on what Matia has said about it. This is the link that Matia put up about the sex/change and how I found out about it, copy and paste the link into your finder to read the article if it doesn't work. Very scary! But I am suprised more people don't talk about it on here...i guess there are so many things like this though.

Sf722 and the tolapia
Matia said we are suposed to open the capsules due to the change in the sf. They didn't used to be made used with tolapia it's just the capsule though. I have gel caps I use and I cut the caps with a sissor I just clip it enough to open it you can use pin but they seem to be too thick on the newer bottles. I just empty my caps into the gel cap. The gel caps are good to have around for me because of the oil of oregano and the goldenseal as well. Esp if I am on gold and oregano at the same time I will do the gold and put the drops into the goldenseal. . I get the 00 caps I can fit two sf caps into one 00 gel cap and I can easily fit all the rest of the caps in them too. I buy 1000 for about 12. lasts me a long time. I do not eat the tovlapia
As for shrimp I eat it accasionally I eat crab more often. I have been eating the crab for dinner every day the past two weeks. Matia said it was fine. I make some crab soup I prefer to eat something light for dinner. I can't do the chicken or I would eat that more then the crab more like once a week. I think the more you can mix it up the better.

my crab soup
for my crab soup i make mashed potoes a head of time unless you want my lighter version with out the potatoes. i did do a fast for a week eating just the crab soup with out the potatoes. I have to say if your on heavy cleansers its hard because it's not sustaining.
one pot i steam some crab I use the fresh king crab, you could use stone or what ever fresh in the shell crab you can get a hold of. i get about a 1.5 - 2lbs this makes 5 sevings for 1.5 and if you do 2 lbs you can get about 8 servings. that is a whole weeks of dinner for me. steam the crab for 10 min
now i use a second pot this is the pot for the acutal soup and should be big like a sauce pot. if you don't have one quite as big you will want to cut it in half.
4-5 med- larg carrots chopped add to one cup water
cook on med. ( i have gas stove so use your judgement)
while the carrots are cooking deshell your crab put it in a bowl and set aside. i like to use my kitchen sissors for this.
chop 4 cups of cabbage
one cerery chopped fine
3 green onion
fresh oregano about a tbs chopped i just grab a handfull from my garden and mince it.
if any of these veggies or herbs don't work you can always swap them for something that does.
add 2 cans of chicken broth i use the health valley , yes in the can if you choose to use your homade or another kind thats fine too. this should be around 4 cups.
i put in all the veggies and the oregano at this point and let it cook. I add about a cup or two of water.
once the veggies are cooked i add some of the mashed potato just enough to thicken it. also when i make my mashed potato i use the chicken broth to flavor it. i don't use any butter.
i use about 4 serving spoon sizes just to thicken the soup but if you want it really thick you can do more. just watch how much your doing and don't add more then you would use per serving of your soup because this is your carb also there is some carrot.
then i put the crab in and just tear it in i let it simmer for one min and then serve.
i have saved some jars so i can portion it up and put it in my fridge or freezer.

never said for me to open my SF722 into and put it in the water... I am wondering if I should, as I have read on here before of people opening it, and not swallowing the gel... ok so the the SF722 is not from tilapia? Just the gel cap or what? Then what IS SF722? I don't know what to do!All I am taking right now is 1 Goldenseal and 1 SF722 3X a day, and she said to open the goldenseal and mix in 1/2 cup of water, and swallow the SF722 with that water.Can someone please in-lighten me?ThanksKelsey

I was the person to first notice and alert Matia when the Thorne company that makes the SF-722 changed the capsule from beef geletin to Tilapia gelatin. I don't know why they changed it but I knew that tilapia can make us flare so I told her about it. At that point in time she had told me that she thought that it was too small of an amount to make a difference but it was fine if it bothered me to open them. It seemed to bother me so for a long long time while taking it I would tear it with my teeth or a small knife and empty the capsules straight into a 1/2 glass of spring water and stir it up with my spoon along with my goldenseal and gulp that burly mess down. It is a VERY VERY nasty combo but I am a seasoned veteran of drinking FOULER more bitter tasting herbs ( shout out to the herb COPTIS!) in my past naturapathic experiences and teas from acupuncture clinics. BEWARE! It leaves a hard to rinse out oily residue and can totally traumatize anyone like a husband that accidentally drinks from a glass that once had SF 722 in it! I recently tried it today to just swallow it whole without opening the capsule just to see what would happen. nothing. not really any irritation that I noticed. I'm 20 months in so I think I may be at a point where that little bit of tilapia el cap is no big deal however others may notice that eh cap is bothering them. To be safe you might want to just open them into water like me with a chaser of some kind- (you get used to it) or you could do what Nicole does. I would ask her where she gets those caps from- hey Nicole where you get them caps? SF-722 is like yeast Napalm. It is undenoic acid? its a very powerful antifungal made from castor oil bean and it kills yeast. I heart some sf-722 even though it is can MAJOR INTENSE sometimes. My body is like yes finally some reinforcements...
I use the now brand I get
I use the now brand I get mine from a local health food store. I thought I was getting the 1000 quanity but it looks like i am getting 750 quanity and they are 00 size. I see that i herb sells them for 9.50. i woudln't pay more then 12. for this. as far as the sf Marry is correct it is a very strong antifungal derived from castor oil and it is stronger then caprlic acid good for the yesties. :)

so I started cutting the sf722 pill open today, yeah you weren't kidding, that stuff is nasty! I wish my husband could just taste a sip of it with the goldenseal! The look on his face would be priceless! And to think she will probably up the dose, don't you think?Anyway, I am used to taking some pretty nasty stuff too, so I am glad for that. But i was wondering, when I do open it, some is left in there no matter how hard i squeeze, do you think that is a big deal? Also, do you have to get this sf722 from Matia only? Where do you guys get it? And does everyone get the Thorn brand?Thanks!Kelsey

i get the sf from iherb unless i already am ordering herbs from her. i doubt the extra oil matters. btw i take 4 of them 3 x a day.
