Hi everyone. I am seeing Dr Brizman on May 25 but I wondered if any of you could answer this question in the meantime. I am doing the diet list 1 and that is fine except that I have been having one cup of coffee a day. It isn't affecting my bladder negatively but I know it isn't on list one. I understand that part of the diet is yeast related and part is bladder related. I know caffiene is a no no on many Candida diets but in this case, if it isn't bothering me is that ok?
coffee
Hello,
Dr. Brizmans treatment is SO individualized. However, I know that many many patients drink coffee. Personally, I would probably continue to drink it until she told me differently.
You will really enjoy your appt with her.
Welcome
From what I read on ic
From what I read on ic network website, coffee is the hardest thing to let go for many. I fall in that category.
Good luck with your appointment.
Coffee
I just saw her 3 weeks ago and she said it was ok for me to have coffee with some milk or cream, just no sugar or any sweetener. She'll let you know if it's ok to continue drinking it or not.
Oh man! WITH CREAM?? That
Oh man! WITH CREAM?? That would seriously cheer me up.
Thanks everyone.
more diet questions from a newbie
When i started with Matia she said that she did not have a problem with me drinking coffee, but it needed to be black. Once i changed to List 2 i could have some cream. But i imagine it could be different for different people.
Actually, i was so excited that i could even have coffee, i didn't mind not having cream, and then when list 2 came...coffee with cream was like a decadant desert!!
You sure do learn to appreciate little things on this diet!! Stay with the diet, it only gets better!!! :)
Cream
Is cream on list 2? I was just moved to list 2 :o)

Just a word of 'caution':
Just a word of 'caution': You say "the coffee's not affecting my bladder" but unless you're totally asymptomatic in your bladder, you can't possibly know that (as I understand things). That's the problem with foods and why they're so insidious. Until you do a true elimination you can't tell. Before elimination, your body may indeed have a problem with it but it might not react immediately, leading you to conclude it's fine. But after a period of elimination, you can usually clearly tell, as you'll react soon after. I didn't really believe this for myself hearing it ahead of time either!, until I experienced it. Nevertheless, as everyone's said, this treatment is highly individual and in some cases she does allow people to keep drinking coffee. Even the amount of it or what they can put in it is individualized too. You are in the best hands with Matia. I wouldn't fret much about drinking it now if you're not in wild pain, but be open to what she suggests; as much as it's hard in the short-term, it's worth it in the long-term.

I thought I had replied to this 2x. I am still getting the hang of it. Anyway- I did eliminate coffee for over 3 months so I think I can be relatively sure I am not reacting. Right?
