Hi,
Its me again with yet another question, yet another flareup and its only Tuesday. : (
I started using baking powder in a glass of spring water several weeks ago which makes it 'subside'. Are there any other tips on what works that have been reccomended to you to deal with it and/or avoid them somehow? Also, how much water are you supposed to be drinking while on the IC Diet? I'm sure you can never have too much. Have you noticed your flareups decrease once on the diet? I tend to get one/week these days... But now I'm at two for this week.
Once on the diet, have you noticed that it tends to subside? I know that everyone's body reacts differently, just looking for some advice to make it through this work week.
Thank you,
Adriane
Hi, the baking soda and water
Hi, the baking soda and water really isn't good to do since it changes your PH and the goal is for your body to do it for you. I noticed that when I started the diet and drank only spring water I had no more real flares after about 2 weeks. It's tough at first but it does get better!
Hi! and welcome.... Christine
Hi! and welcome.... Christine is right. The diet affects each one of us differently, but it helped me greatly. I would say I went from having 3-4 flare ups per week to having 1 every 2-3 weeks. The most difficult time for me was beginning the diet and finding a "rhythm" with it. I still go out to eat with family and friends quite a bit and it took me awhile to figure out what I could eat safely without my body reacting.
In terms of what calms a flare down? Well, I take hot baths, I lie down and if all else fails.. I cry until it passes. I wish I had better advice for you, but that's the reality. What helps me most now... logging on to this website and knowing I am not only alone, but I am supported:)
It WILL get better,
Katie
My flare ups are definately
My flare ups are definately tied to my cycle. I get a flare up around ovulation time and then again with my period. I don't do anything.....just live with it. I haven't noticed anything diet wise that helps during these times.....Dr. Brizman sayes this too shall pass in time.
Thanks, ladies.
Wow, I had no idea you have to suffer through it. I was bummed to hear that but understand that your body will recover. The good news is that today I booked my 1st appt to see Dr. Brizman early Oct. I am beyound happy, and have started the List 1 diet. Hope you all are doing well.
Chamomile Tea
Hi,
The diet does help me but I still get flares 2-3 times during the day. Usually in the morning, afternoon, then right before bed.
For me, the best thing that has helped me is chamomile tea. It usually takes about 30 min-1 hour to completely take away my flare (sometimes longer if it's a really bad flare). But as soon as I start drinking the tea, my body starts to relax and the flare calms down.
Hi! Did Dr B ok te chamomile?
Hi! Did Dr B ok te chamomile? I'd love to have another option for drinking something warm and soothing
Yes
Yes, Dr. B did approve chamomile tea for me. I asked her at my first appointment. But for anyone that wants to try something new, I think it’s best for them to send her an email to see what she says because she knows we are all different.
