Does everyone have a problem with yeast/bacteria??

Hi everyone,

A quick question re 'causes' again - I've done loads of reading recently (this web site mainly) and my understanding of this condition is that notwithstanding individual differences and different precipitating factors, the 'causes' dovetail to yeast/bacterial ovegrowth. Is this correct? Can we then say that the 'cause' of IC is yeast/bactwria overgrowth (which affect the immune system, or, which the immune system affects - however, I assume that we all generally started out with reasonable immune systems; thus, the yeast/bacteria compromised that).  Is this what the treatment is? I have just started so don't know the mechanics of it. It seems to be similar for everyone so Dr B must think that a similar underlying cause is present for everyone.

Inflammation is often the cause of muscle and joint pain. Add inflammation to that equation, too.
Btw, I appreciate your logical mind. Glad you joined the forum.

I do not believe that yeast and bacterial overgrowth actually are the cause of all cases of IC.  A yeast and bacterial overgrowth can greatly affect the immune system and put things out of balance.  I'm sure it could work the other way around in that a person without a healthy immune system will acquire yeast and bacteria problems. For some reason, our immune systems aren't strong enough to keep these things in balance.  Here again, it could be something genetic, or it could have some other cause not yet discovered.  Matia is cleansing for the yeast and bacteria and also rebuilding the immune system with the probiotics and supplements.  Some people seem to improve really quickly and others do not.  I suppose it depends on the individual and other factors.
