  1.        I am having terrible problems with burning sensations in my mouth,
throat and stomach.  I know that having IC makes our bodies very
acidic, but mine is ridiculous.  I can hardly eat beacuse it is SO
uncomfortable!!!!   I am trying to follow list one diet but this doesn't
even seem to help.  Has anyone experienced this type of problem
and what did you do.  I am not yet a patient, but plan on seeing
Matia in early January.  Hopefully after my visit w/ her and starting on
the herbs it will help .  Until then any information would be helpful.
            THANKS!!!

sounds like you are having acid reflux?  does removing all grains, including brown rice, help?

I haven't tried removing grains; am eating a fair amount of brown ricebecause I need the carbs for calories.  I will try try this approach and see if it improves.  I've had 2 endoscopies performed and all they can find is somemild gastritis and a hiatial hernia.  Both shouldn't cause this kind of burningsensation.  I tried taking proton pump inhibitors but they really didn't workand don't really want to be on them (alot of bad press about them). Thanks for the suggestion!

The only reason I suggested this is b/c brown rice really aggravates my acid reflux.  I do not tolerate the rice cakes everyone seems able to eat.  I also have a lot of reflux/acid issues.  I have been eating a lot of brown rice muffins, with meals, b/c alone I know my acid would be up my nose, so to speak.  I replaced the brown rice flour with millet.  I am also going to try potato flour too.  I am very thin and need the calories; I get too hungry if I eat potatoes all day so I am trying to work around the brown rice issue and replace it.  My reflux is not gone, but it is less strong and sour with the millet.  I have a grain chart and millet, amaranth, and quinoa are all neutral grains on the acid scale.  Brown rice is moderately acidic.  Even spelt is better, at slightly acidic.  I don't know if this will help.  Avocadoes and cucumber seem to help with my acid at times too, as long as I don't over alkalinize.  Maybe just try removing the brown rice and replacing with yeast free spelt bread or making your own millet, amaranth, or quinoa muffins.  and as always, run everything by Matia.icnot4me

Hello!
Since IC is digestive related, remember that digestion begins in your mouth which is part of your digestive tract!  I get crazy burning/itching in my mouth that comes and goes.  It makes me whacky.  I have noticed for me that spelt/wheat makes this happen!  Try different things in diet 1 and see if you can't pin point it.  Mine comes and goes and drives me nuts.  You are normal!
