Ears and sensitivity to cold ?

Does anyone else find that they have extreme ear sensitivity especially when exposed to cold temperatures? I have had issues with my ears most of my life but after head trauma at the age of 13 these earn issues intensified any cold temps or wind and will suffer from ear aches and pounding headaches at least for the next day or two. Also, same issue with change in pressure diving in water or flying in a plane. Just wondering if my ears tend to be more sensitive because of my trauma or do others with IC also have this issue?

Cp my ears have always had issues w my ears. Alot of ear infections, pressure issues and itching!!! I pop my ears all the time. They feel clogged/pressure-y alot. But that has decreased w treatment. It feels so good to pop them! In elevators, planes, even escalators, and swimming I have to pop them to feel relief. Even if I go under water 2ft I feel it in my ears. when its windy/cold outside my ears ache and they sort of burn inside. Hope that helps

Christina and Star I have the same exact thing - urrg. In fact flying home last night I thought I was going to die on the plane from the ear pressure and pain. This all started when I was in my early 20s...I guess it's part of the imbalance. Same thing with the cold - very painful. I also get vertigo too. Have it right now for over a week - yuck!

Hi Christina, how funny, I just answered Tinkerbell's post about flying and ears issues - I'm also one of the club. Had frequent ear infections from 19 to 27 (strangely, after giving birth to my son they dissapeared almost completely, only had 2 VERY slight ear issues since then, before that it was twice a year and really bad!!!). Not that there was a direct relation with the cold, because in my bad ear times I used to have infections both in winter and in summer - anything could cause one: having wet the ears while swimming, starting wearing a helmet bc of motorcycling, wearing earplugs for noisy work,... anything. Now I don't have any infections anymore, but since I had them, I just don't dive anymore. I live at the beach and swim a lot, but always, always with my head over the water, never diving. I also have a kind of problem with having my hair washed at hair salons - try to avoid it by going to hair salon with already washed/wet hair. If not possible, I try to protect my ears from getting wet with a towel. And about cold - I'm one with always cold hands and feet, so "defficient" according to Boaz. If that improves with treatment, there is hope my ears improve too, though luckily they don't cause me any trouble anymore, unless on some flights.
