Good Yogurt

I have been having trouble getting my daughter to take the probiotic and juice plus mixed in plain yogurt.  She gags and is very dramatic.  Do any of you know of a fruit sweetned yogurt that is low in sugar?  I tried adding agave and fruit to plain yogurt with no success.  She likes Yoplait which has way to much sugar.

I'm not sure what the juice plus is. Is it a liquid or powder? How much volume is it? Is it particularly yucky? Does Matia want them taken together? If you can give one and then the other, back to back, I would try this. I mix the probiotic powder in a small amount ( 1/2 teaspoon) of plain yogurt. . If she won't do plain then mix it 1/2 plain and 1/2 smooth fruit flavored. Smooth is best because with the fruit on the bottom the chunks of fruit just add to the gag reflex. I have found with the yucky stuff that it's better to make it as small an amount as possible. I would think the probiotic is the most important thing to give her. Maybe you could back off on the fruit plus for a week or so and let her get used to the probiotic/yogurt mix. If you mix up the plain and fruit flavored in a separate container, you could just scoop out a 1/2 tsp for mixing when you need it. Tammy

I know the probiotics can be chalky in texture but if you put it in a little yogury and mix it for a min or two, it will disolve. The juice plus sounds like one the will be harder to get down. My daughter Emma has been in treatment with Matia since Nov 08. She has had to take a lot of super yucky stuff. We have found that trying to cover up the taste just makes it worse. Emma perfers to just take her herbs/supplements in a 1/2 tsp of plain yogurt. I put it on a spoon and hold her nose. She chases it down with water. I have a glass ready with a straw. She knows that taking these things are helping her and it's not for ever.Tammy

Have you tried different brands of plain yogurt? Some of them are more sour tasting than others. She's probably reacting more to the taste of the yogurt than the juice plus or probiotic. I've found a plain yogurt at Trader Joe's that my kids seem to like. I add unsweetened apple sauce to it and that seems to do the trick. I don't have any good tips for disguising the juice plus - my son takes it, but he swallows them whole - he'd rather do that then have it sprinkled on his food. I think it's hard for most kids to swallow pills so Matia has you break it open. The probiotic has to be opened up so I put it in his milk - he's not a big fan of that because it's kind of chunky but he drinks it anyway. Carol

it sounds to me like putting all that sweetener is defeating the purpose of the herbs though. I take juice pluss and I quite like the taste personally. How old is your daughter and is she taking the whole capsule? can she swallow pills? I sometimes recap my probiotics into jell capsules. I get the now brand online or sometimes my local health food store has them. Since they really don't have a lot of taste the juice plus taste like carrot maily and the probiotics are mostly just chocky texture maybe put them into a potato or just add to her regular food  maybe she will not taste it at all and you will not be looking for another food to put it in. She must really not like her veggies to not like the juice pluss. SOunds like you have your work cut out for you. I hope you find some solutions.
