Hi. I just got diagnosed with IC. I had a cystoscopy which showed glomerulations. My bladder was ok size at 1000cc fluid and then they extended it to 1100cc during surgery. I had DMSO for 60 minutes. I'm feeling much better. Doing the diet.
But I still have pain in my vagina. Constantly. Do any of you have only pain and no other symptoms? Thank you.
I wish!!
Oh how I wish I only had the pain with no other symptoms. I hope that since you only have pain you heal quickly and am so happy that you just were diagnosed and already found this website. I have had issues since I was 18 and am now 35 and just started this treatment. I have been through hell and back and more doctors than I can count. Best wishes
thank you
Thank you for responding, Christina. I am so glad to have another person to talk to about this disease. I have been in pain for 11 years. I had nerve damage in my vagina and just now went to a Urologist for this pain. I'm still working on the vaginal pain at the same time. I also have a nerve that is damaged in my rectum that I am having surgery on next month. I have been to 18 doctors so far.
My heart goes out to you that you have had this illness for so many years. I am praying they find a cure soon. Take care!
Nerve damage?
Hej June
How did the doctors diagnose your nerve damage? My MRI?!
How did it happen?
I hope you feel better!
Hi June
I'm envious of your bladder capacity! They only got mine to 400ml whilst I was under anaesthetic. Hopefully your recovery time will be quick given you've no other symptoms - good luck.
thank you
Thank you! Your kind words of support really help me to think positively about this. It is hard to be happy when I'm in pain, but talking like this helps.
Take care,
How Do you Know If You Gut Is Healing/ Travel question
I am one of these impatient ones. I have been on the diet since 2/24/12 and wondering how you know when your gut is healing. I have been able to stop taking magnesium and am having normal bowel movements daily after about 4 years of chronic constipation but I am still having a lot of bloating.
Also, if any long timers are reading this, can you tell me, have you been able to return to travel? I like the exotic type, e.g. hope to travel to Burma in next year or so. This may not be realistic since Dr. B estimates that I will be in treatment for 18 months. Are you all still housebound?
Thank you Bonnie Yates
Just diagnosed by family physicain
I was just diagnosed last week by my family doctor with this condition. Ijust started the symptoms about a week ago. I have had severe burning pain in my bladder and pelvic area. I intend to see a Urologist asap. I also just learned that I have IBS with constipation as the presenting problem. I am taking 500 mg-1000mg magnesium tabs and a couple of stool softeners that are working well. I have also been eating pears, apples, and plums to help with the fiber intake. I think this diet is the way to go. Can someone tell me if using this diet will provide enough fiber that I can come off the magnesium at some point? I have to take 1000mg of Calcium daily along with a medication for Osteoperosis. I was diagnosed with that 2 years ago. Up until now I have had pretty good health. I primarily am experiencing the pain and not the frequency also.
Hello
I'm thinking that you just plan on using the diet - not seeing Dr. Brizman? While that may be of great help to you - most of us also adhere to the protocol that she perscribes to each of us individually. what it includes is extremely varied depending on the symptoms of the individual. Many patients deal with constipation - I'm not sure if the diet alone would allow for you to discontinue the magnesium.
If you can come and see her - it would probably be in your best interest - especially if you're not happy with what the urologist might tell you.
This treatment is about bringing the body back into balance through diet, herbs, and probiotics. She constantly changes these things as changes in the patient occur.
All my best
Trial and Error
Thanks Denise. I live on the east coast and a trip to CA isn't in my budget. I know of a Dr. here in our area that pracitces kinesthetic medicine and he too is all about bringing the body into balance through diet, herbs and other. Not sure about probiotics but I suspect he uses those as needed. I have a lot of respect for him. Do you think that Dr. Britzman would be interested in working with him to treat me? Also, i have been using AZO once at night to help me sleep through the night until I can get in full swing with the diet. I am coming off coffee this week and working on eliminating fruit for now although I believe the pears and fuji apples are also helping with the constipation. Do you think eating broccoli and avacodo's for snacks in place of the fruits will help me also? Right now it's all trial and error. Your thoughts?
