Stevia

Does anyone know why this is not allowed?  I did some research on it and found that bacteria and yeast will not live off it like they do sugar or other sweeteners.  Once in a while I use pure stevia in tea and it doesnt seem to bother me. Just wondering why its not allowed.

honestly I never got this one. I think the resons are not scientific but based on experience. I think it would be a great question to ask her at this months meeting. I used to love stevia. I love something I can grow pick and use too. It grows here really easy.  I used to use it all the time.

I  have used a little bit too, in tea or coffee and it has not caused pain.  It is expensive and has a little bit of a funny taste but it is comforting to me in the evening.  I have also wondered about Xyitol because they are both low glycemic- they don't raise blood sugar.  They are used in alot of diabetic sugarfree products.  I have a friend that bakes with stevia for his Mom but I have not tried baking with it.  Like everything else tho-rare use and moderation.  I heard a naturapath speak last week who used tons (10/day) artificial pink packet diet sugar in her tea for years and ended up with a brain tumor.  Now she is a naturapath MD and won't touch the stuff.
