Please be careful with humidifiers and treating yourself with steam.  I suffered for several months with a sinus infection last summer, and Dr. B told me to NOT use a humidifier as it would just make the underlying problem worse.  In my case, she was right (as she usually is...).  I recommend asking her before doing anything supplemental to what she is suggesting for you.

Hi Everyone,
I too have been suffering with I believe is a major sinus infection for over 2 weeks.  Dr. B.  has tried so many different herbs and nothing seems to be working.  My symptoms are migraines, pressure, nausea ears cracking and a feeling of disbalancement.  I went to see my Doctor because I needed a diagnosis. I thought I was going crazy because nothing is working.  My Doctor told me I  have a sinus infection even though an x-ray did not show an infection.  He prescribed antibiotics for 2 weeks.  I've decided not to take them out of fear that I will damage any progress I've made.  I also use steam, a humidifier, heat and nasal rinses.  After reading the above posts I can't believe how everything I'm doing to help myself can be making things worse.  Steam???   What are we supposed to do to feel better?  I'm doing my best not to turn to any medication.  My bladder is not causing me any stress but my sinus is.  Does it ever get easier?
Thanks

Sandi, you sound EXACTLY like how I was last summer.  My infection was brought on by complications from allergies.  I also went to the doctor for a diagnosis and was prescribed antibiotics.  At the time, I was suffering so badly, I decided to take them.  And they did nothing for me, except make me feel extremely guilty for putting that stuff into my body.  It took a few months of going back and forth emailing Dr. B almost every day and trying different things, but eventually, it DID go away.  She told me that mine was one of the most complicated and worst sinus cases she had ever seen.  Mine was so bad, I was so nauseous ALL the time.  I was puking up mucus.  I had the worst pressure ever.  The post nasal drip was the worst I'd ever had.  If she could help me get THAT under control, I am absolutely confident she can help you get through this.  Communicate with Dr. B!!!  Tell her everything you are feeling!  She CAN help you!  It will get better.

Thanks for your Encouraging response.  I'm really glad she was able to help you through that rough time.  She added something new today so I'm hoping things will improve?

Ladies, thank you for your responses and sharing how Dr B worked with each of you. There is so much to learn in this new approach to healtly living!  The steam was really helping me, it seems so "natural". i would never have thought it would be a problem.
My husband wants me to go and see a doctor for a diagnosis.  He can't believe that what i have is just a sinus infection, he thinks i may have pnemonia too (i have had pnemonia before, and i  guess that it is easier to get once you have had it).  So, he is probably right. It wouldn't hurt to get a diagnosis.  But, i am committed to not taking antibiotics. Tinkerbell, thanks for sharing that the antibiotics didn't help you get better...that has been my experience in the past too.
Question.. How often do you email here when you are sick?  How long do you wait when she has made a change to say...it isn't working!!! I need to know the balance between being patient and being pro active.
Guess i am discouraged, i have had this for two weeks and i am not much better.
Tomorrow is my birthday . Our sons are flying into SanFrancisco, and we were going to meet them in the city for the weekend, go to a Giants pre season game, and just enjoy each other.  Looks like i am going to have to cancil because i am sick again, and can't seem to get over it in a normal amount of time (whatever that is).  Just had to vent at bit!!!
Good news in this is my bladder isn't bothering me at all!!!  Even with all of the new herbs for my sinus infection.  Matia is a great healer. i trusted her to get me through the IC and she has.  Now we just need to figure out my weak immune system.
So thank ful for Matia and this website.

Happy birthday, Susan!!  Enjoy the time with your sons!  I hope you're feeling well while they're in town!  When I was struggling really bad with this problem, I had also feared pneumonia.  It is totally understandable, it is a really scary concern!!  Mine was starting into pneumonia, but wasn't like, full blown quite yet.  Dr. B helped me out of all of that since the antibiotics did not work for me.  When her and I were trying to figure it all out, I would usually ask her how long I should wait before determining whether or not that change was working, and I would go from there.  She would usually say something like, "email me back in __ days and let me know how it's going."  So that's what I did.  It was usually 2-ish days before I would determine if anything was changing.  For awhile, we emailed back and forth just about every other day.  She was very accomodating, and was so incredible!  ...I'm the kind of person that asks for her input on just about everything (like the humidifier.. in my case, she told me to stop, but I'm sure she will be able to tell you what is best for your situation) because I just want to make sure I'm not making my issues worse.  Follow your instincts!!  It will all work out!  I know it feels scary!
