Tendons and joints- feeling like wood

Hi Everyone! I have had tendon and joint pain for years, usually flares in one area at a time, but recently every joint seems to be affected with tendinitis and tenosynovitis. I am having a lot of pain and feeling extremely stiff. Everything is catching and creaking and feel like becoming petrified wood. Anyone else have this whole body inflammed stiff sore petrified wood feeling? Going to ask if I can try some different therapeutic modalities to help with managing the inflammation. My joints usually feel better when I can stay more physically active, but my insides don't like the physical activity. Such a double edged sword. I am so tired of hurting!

So so sorry Cprince that you are feeling this way. I can relate. What has helped me, as of late, is going off rice. I was already gluten free, dairy free, and nightshade free, but this final drop of rice has taken away my joint pains (as well as helping my bowel inflammation reduce so much). I am using navy beans and carrots as my two starches right now. I don't have a starch at night. I am praying you find relief. I keep taking notes and comparing those notes with other notes. It is definitely a work in progress. Love to you!

Thanks Mrs. A! I have already cut all grains, nightshades, eggs, and only have goat or sheep yogurt for breakfast. I guess maybe that is next to cut out all dairy. I am already so limited food that I fear to cut one more thing. I can't do most veggies because of the fructose, it really bothers my stomach so much. I guess something I really need to discuss with Dr. M at my appointment. I am trying to really cut back on my bean intake as I have become addicted and they don't really make my tummy feel so good. I need to get to the bottom of this even if it means cutting out nearly every food. Already only eating 8 different foods. Thanks again for the advice and will be taking more detailed notes. My bones feel like shattering glass and my tendons like stiff cracking wood. It is funny I looked up tendons feeling like wood and a TCM meridian chart came up talking about the liver meridian and the element wood. Hmm, maybe not a coincidence that the first word that came to mind to describe my tendons to be wood, especially with my strong liver imbalances.

I know it is so difficult cutting out things. I love to study other diets, so I learn so much from reading them. The past year I have been studying the SCD diet, the GAPS diet, the Fodmap diet, and the Wahls protocol. Fascinating reads. I learn a lot from people who are following these different diets and what they are trying to accomplish, and how each person differs from the next even though they are on the same diet. For myself, I have to eat so little carbs. Otherwise inflammation. I tried just 1 T of navy beans on my last meal last night, and sure enough inflammation. It's like a puzzle figuring out your body, and I pray a lot as I try to figure it out with Dr. B's expertise. I know you will get there Cprince!

Mrs A, thank you so much for your encouragement through this, as I know you get the limited diet thing as well and the constant feeling inflammed if not really careful. I too have read on so many diets and try to take bits and pieces from each that really apply to me, but still following Dr. M's guidelines. You are right, we will get there sooner or later! Love and prayers to you!

Cp maybe dr b can explain what is going on. Sure it is part of the process. Caution u about modalities that might aggravate. Blood stasis in Chinese medicine offers some explanation but not sure it is the whole picture but u might look that up.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Yes, Mimi, thanks for the reminder. As always I will ask Dr. M about the modalities. I would never do anything to jeopardize treatment and any progress I may making. I just have convenient access to them as apply it myself so just came to mind that might be an option.

Would a hot bath bring relief? What about swimming in a non chlorine pool? Swimming has a gentle massage-like effect on the body.  I swim in a geothermically heated thermal spring water pool when I can (unfortunately live miles away), it is so relaxing and soothing on sore joints/tendons. As with all advice on here - obviously ask the Brizmans if this is right for you.

Hi Jane! Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, hot baths are one of the few things that provide some temporary relief. If only I could find a way to not turn to a prune I would live in the bath tub! LOL! That is awesome that you have access to a spring water pool, even if hours away. I have been to a natural hot springs once, smelled horrific of sulfar, but felt amazing. Unfortunately it is like 10 hours away in another state. I wish there were more natural options around me. The Midwest is not so great for alternative options, very conservative thinking. My mom has a pool, but of course chlorinated and not an option to make it more natural at this stage in the game as too expensive and beginning to think of moving her out of the big house into something smaller and more manageable so she can really enjoy her retirement. I will be sure to ask Dr. M about any other suggestions she may have.
