travel and sleep

I've seen several of you  travel a lot. My problem is that I have trouble with different surroundings and sharing room while sleeping. I do wear a mask; have tried various cds and hypnosis , but need stronger help for an upcoming trip sharing in a dorm style situation. 

Has anyone ever discussed using melatonin or calms or valerian...or any suggestions at all really would appreciate with thanks

Is what I used in college.  However, Matia told me its a major irritant and not to use it now, so I would double check with her.
