I am a professional singer and I often sing at Catholic funeral Masses. Last Saturday, I was having a particularly tough time IC/mental/emotional wise. I was filled with fear, doubt, dread, hopelessness- you name it. Anyway- I had a funeral (and a wedding) that day. I usually sing songs that I've done a million times but on Saturday I had a new song. it was based on a Psalm 27 and was to the tune of an old spiritual. It was a lovely song. ANyway- i am not very confidantly faithful in my beliefs although I have been praying a lot lately- don't they say there are no atheists in foxholes or with IC? LOL

The song /psalm really hit me though. One verse kept repeating "In the time of trouble, He shall hide me"

and then "Have courage and wait on the Lord"

Anyway- I thought to myself, "Maybe this song was an answered prayer?"

I sang it all the way home and you know- courage was just what I needed.

Deir,

Thanks for sharing your experience.  I too find comfort reading the Psalms.
