My friend colored her hair blonde with Naturtint.  When she had it done at a salon, the color was beautiful.  Then she started having her mom color it and her hair became very damaged.  I think the key is to apply it to your new groth (i.e. roots).  After the first application, I would avoid pulling the color through the rest of your hair.

yeah I have some training here I went to cosmotology school but decided when i got IC to switch to skin care and dropped just before finishing. I didn't want to be around all those chems. I really just want some highlights because my hair looks so flat I want to give it some texture. I have a lot of layers so this would just compliment it. Also I found that blog to be very intersting .

If this helps anybody, "Hair Do or Dye: coloring with chemicals is toxic - but do safer options work?" article in current Natural Solutions magazine.  Can prob find it online.
They mention a site - www.gogreensalon.com >> directory of ammonia-free salons in the U.S. (I'm sure some are more eco than just ammonia-free.)
