Soooo... I was poking around on the Raw milk website and found some interesting information....check it out: http://www.organicpastures.com/raw-almond-expose.html

Interesting to me because I always questioned Costco "organic" items... I mean... unfortunately, we do not live in a time where organic is cheap... Hopefully someday it will be.  If something seems too good to be true, it usually is... The brand of almonds that goes bad is Kirkland which is Costco's name brand.  The other brand is Whole Foods... I have been suspicious of WF for a long time now as being "sell outs"... Their founder had an article recently about how disgusted he was with the company and how far away they had gotten from what was originally intended... Just interesting stuff to consider...

I think the bottom line is we really need to use our common sense and if something doesn't seem quite right... DITCH IT!!!

a raw almond seller explained to me that if the almonds are grown in the US they have to be pasteurized, which makes no sense because if you heat them up, they're no longer raw. I have heard that imported raw almonds do not have to be pasteurized, but because it doesn't have to be listed on the package you really have no way of knowing. There is a vendor at my local farmer's market that sells raw almonds that are unpasteurized. They told me if you're selling in quantities under 200 lbs you do not have to pasteurize. Why is it so dang hard to find 'real' food these days?
