Hi,
I am having a difficult time. I don't know what to eat. I am sticking to the stage one diet very well but have experienced constipation from it and do it gives me anxiety. I have had prolapse surgery and can not get constipated. I did take the magnesium supplements and they help but I only go every other day even on them. I also try to walk one to two miles a day.
I was wondering what someone might suggest to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner from the diet to prevent constipation. I do have an appointment set up for mid February with dr brizman, but need to follow some diet to alleviate my bkadder and urethea spasms and discomfort.
I would greatly appreciate someone's advice. I keep going to my kitchen and don't even know what to prepare for breakfast and am starving. I am so afraid of getting constipated.
I have whole spelt grains, broccoli, yams, spelt flour, eggs, cucumbers, celery, cauliflower, hamburger meat, chicken thighs, butternut squash, rice crackers, sardines, and lettuce at my disposal. Especially for breakfast I have a difficult time coming up with something.
If anyone could reply with some suggestions I would be extremely grateful. Please excuse spelling as I am coming off of a night with no sleep.

This blog may be interest. I often have cabbage/cauli/broccoli soup with a bit of meat mixed in for breakfast. You get used to it over time.
I agree with Carole. When I
I agree with Carole. When I added in celery/cabbage/cauliflower soup (add a generous dolop of butter and pink or sea salt). I used my emersion blender to puree. I have this with my breakfast: home made sprouted spelt bread, toasted with butter and eggs (or yogurt as I am on list 3). I make a big batch to last several days. It is a good portable veggie to take if I am out for lunch as you can put it in a thermos. I am also allowed coffee which probably helps.
I also have a large glass of very warm (not hot) spring water (if tolerated) first thing in the morning which really helps get things moving. Sometimes two glasses is helpful.
Did your doctor ok the magnesium??? You might give that a try. It seems to be very gentle and Dr. B said that many of her patients take it. Check with your doctor!!

ALso I have read that rice
ALso I have read that rice cakes can be constipating and that basmati or brown rice is better, at least at first. Nothing is static in this process. Things I could not eat 3 months ago are ok for me now.

I did not fully read your post! Sorry. I see you are taking the mag. Try the soup for 3 days and the warm water in the morning. If that doesn't work you could ask your doctor about temporarily increasing the mag??

Mimi, what is your recipe for spelt bread? I would love to have it.
Aldo, do you just thorough the veggies in water to cook and then blend?
Thank you.
Hi Pico
Hi Pico
Eating potatoes with their skin helps to increase the fibre intake.
I also found that rice cakes cause constipation in my case. I can only handel a little bit of it.
Do you get bored of eating
Do you get bored of eating the same thing everyday? I am also trying to, if not gain weight, keep myself from losing weight. I am 5'7" and 112 pounds. I feel I am starving on this diet. For example : for lunch I had 2 chicken thighs fried in olive oil, cauliflower fried in olive oil , brown rice, and half a cucumber. I feel hungry still after eating this. Something seems to be missing that filled me before. I have been on the diet for almost a week. Do you go to the next level when your symptoms fully subside?

I love potatoes with skin! I just thought they were constipating. I will add them to my diet. Saw a great recipe for them on this site with garlic powder.
Will try the soup idea also.
I apologize for the repeat. I
I apologize for the repeat. I didn't think the posting went through fo I added to it.
I think because those of here
I think because those of here have a gut inbalance, we do not absorb the nutrients as well so still feel hungry. Also, the body early in treatment seems to still crave sugar. I am 3 months in and I rarely feel satisfied after a meal. Same with thirst. In her dissertation she explains how the imbalance can effect gut, and how the thirst increases because when we our sick, our cells do not hold water very well. This improves in treatment.
I know that she doesn't necessarily recommend you start the diet until you go see her, because it is hard to implement when not under her care. If I were to do it over again, (I had to wait two weeks or so) I would have just cut out sugar, fruit and yeast, and kept a few things in such as avocado. (List 2) until I was officially on my protocol. But that is just me. And yes the diet is hard but gets easier. Search list 1/2 recipes and you will find some good stuff.
You can make a nice salad dressng (See the recipe link) with a pastered egg, a pinch of salt, and a cup of plain (not extra virgin) olive oil in the blender. You can use this for salad dressing or to spread on meat or a hamburger.
I lost some weight in the beginning and now am at my normal weight after 2.5 months. Find the zuchini (I like yellow squash) muffin recipe and have as a snack with butter and a hardboiled egg. Or a hardboiled egg and some veggies as a snack (alwyas protien with carbs). The snacks get easier as you move up the lists. If you have a snack you might be able to stop the weight loss but I have read it is normal!!

Mimi,
Mimi,
I can't seem to find the zucchini muffin recipe and I'd really like to try it.! Could you tell me where I can find it on web site? I looked in recipes listed on top of website with no luck.
Thanks for your help.

Actually, I went through the recipes a second time and found it!! Thanks again.
Two things that Dr. B has
Two things that Dr. B has recommended to me are to eat a bigger portion of vegetables at every meal and to drink a big glass of warm water before breakfast. Also, she has said that rice can be constipating, so maybe you should try sticking with potatoes and spelt for a bit.
I can't express how grateful
I can't express how grateful I am for everyone's replies to my eating woes. I've gotten some really great suggestions and ideas that I've already implemented and I feel will work. I'm actually looking forward to eating meals and on the stage one diet at that! I feel fully supported by such a warm, embracing and intelligent group of women. Thank you everyone.
