I was wondering if anyone had tried cystoprotek before seeing Dr Brizman.

I did, and it won't work to really heal your IC. I would save the money you spend on that, to go and see Dr. Brizman.

She will just ask you to go off it. I know when you are in pain you just want to try anything. I KNOW!! Did you call the office to see if they have any cancellations so you could get in sooner? Stick with the diet!!

Mimi,

Im on a waiting list for an earlier date. They said they rarely have cancellations and I'm coming from the east coast.

Di you find the diet is one of the most helpful things in the treatment plan for relief of symptoms?

It really seems to depend on the person. I have read that  it can be helpful for some people for symptom relief. And regardless of how you feel on it, it is reducing inflammation and preparing the body for the rest of her treatment, so you cant go wrong! I would give it several days and see if it helps calm things down.
I would say that you can't separate the diet from the rest of the protocol, nor do people seem to do well long-term trying to self-treat with the diet alone, or some version of supplements without being in Dr. B's care.
Did you find this website yet?

My favorite thing on List one, was I would make the zuchinni fries (but I would use yellow, crook-neck squash). I bought a VERY cheap french frie cutter. It seemed to be utterly useless for french fries, but I cut the necks off the yellow squash, and used the cutter and made "fries". I rolled the "fries" in whole grain spelt flour and a good pinch of salt, and fried them in a generous amount of olive oil until golden brown and a bit crispy. Did this in batches, then left them to rest in a warm oven on a paper towel to soak up excess oil. I would make a huge batch and eat the whole thing at dinner. Yum. They are called something else on her site, but I think you will find them in the snack section. I liked the yellow over the zuchinni.

That sounds so delicious. Gaining weight could be fun here. Mimi, anytime you think of another favorite recipe, please don't forget to pass it on.  Thank you.

I took Cytoprotec and it seemed to work. I showed Cytoprotec ist of ingridients to a pharmasist and he said it contained a lot of good elements that people take after surgeries, etc. I am not sure what exactly that meant, but it was enough for me to give it a try before seeing Dr B. I also took dried aloe vera at the same time. Additionally, I started list 1 three months before seeing Dr B. They all worked well. While my bladder symptoms were somewhat better on Cytoprotec and aloe vera, my whole body was still falling apart. I could not manage an 1.5 appointment in LA. I was tired and unable to continue conversation passed 45 min. Exhaustion and confusion took over. I am glad I put what I could in and still consider it was a good appointment. I think overall dis-ease won't be addressed by a single element. It is a system that has to be built for you personally that will eventually work. But I am personally not against Cytoprotec, it is a good remedy if nothing else is available.

Blondy/Sue, this is a hard call. I think if you were to talk to Dr. B, she would explain that these supplements are doing something totally different in the body than what hers are doing. She is trying to correct an underlying imbalance, and things like Aloe Vera, while they have known healing properties and are used in a variety of settings, may be making one's underlying imbalance more pronounced. This is what she said to me. When I got to her office, I had IC symptoms for only 6 weeks, but for about 3 weeks had been ramping up my freeze dried Aloe Vera intake. When I went on her protocol I was VERY uncomfortable because she asked me to stop taking it. My body had to adjust to the probiotic, etc...My discomfort only lasted a week, and I am grateful for that, but these are the things you have to weigh.
In hindsight, if my pain was manageable without Cystoprotoc and Aloe Vera, and I was planning on working with Dr. B (Sue is going in one month), I personally would not start down that road because it will be even more of a shock to the body. I feel like the Aloe Vera was similar to Elmiron in kind of coating or protecting the mucosal lining in the bladder, but not healing the underlying imbalance in the gut, and I kind of wish I had not taken it. My 2 cents.
