I was on the stage one diet for just over a week and then my accupuncturist told me that I needed to eat more food and not to worry about what I was eating- just eat as I was way too thin and sickly looking. So I went and ate granola with almond milk and now I am having severe spasms in my urethea all morning long. Ive had to go to the bathroom constantly too. Is there anything to take to counteract this thing. I'm dying. Please help. I am not a patient of dr brizmans yet. Waiting for my appointment. Thanks for any suggestions.

Don't eat anything like gronala again... very very hard on your bladder.
If you need to eat more, and gain more... eat butter on your veggies... fattier chicken.... red meat.... and just eat more!!!!! Don't let yourself get hungry. Even really healthy things like coconut, oats etc can cause you a lot of pain. Stick to list one. You can get plenty of fat and calories if you eat enough.
I can't suggest anything more then let this ride itself out. I'm very sorry for your pain. I would drink lots of water, take a hot bath if that helps at all... and the next meal you eat (don't let yourself get too hungry) needs to be very balanced with meat, carb and veggies. Make it yummy by cooking with butter and or olive oil.
You will also see that if you treat with Dr. Brizman, she will most likely discourage you seeing a accupuncturist. It can make things much worse for you. Please go and see Dr. Brizman asap. She will help you a lot.
I pray this added pain goes away quickly for you.

I'm so sorry you are suffering right now. IC is so hard to deal with sometimes. And I know it's hard to wait for that first appointment with Dr. B., but hang in there! It will get better!
Your acupuncturist does not have the knowledge needed to give you a recommendation on food. When you see Dr. B, she will give you what you need to start gaining weight and looking more healthy. She will tell you what to do food-wise and you can trust that she knows what she is doing.
What I do for pain is first to put my feet up and try to rest. Also, I use a microwaveable hot pack that I put on my abdomen. Some like to take a warm bath. Drinking warm water is soothing also.

I've also found that putting a warm hot pack on my lady parts helps. I do this while laying on my back, putting my footstool cube on the couch, and putting my feet up on the cube, with a pillow under my butt.
Sounds crazy - but it helps me.

Zucchini fritters: grated zucchini and potato mixed with egg and salt. Fry those babies. You can also do this with frozen broccoli.

Berry Local is also maintained by a patient, so if you message the blog, she can tell you how to tweak the recipes. Also, brown rice pasta with HELLA butter, and fatty chicken/red meat/ and steamed veggies. Put Natalie L into the search bar here, and her recipe for "trough" comes up. Potatoes btw are great for gaining weight. Get the yukon gold ones. And Kate's Butter is also super delicious.
Lastly, your acupuncturist clearly has no idea what she's talking about.
I've been having relentless
I've been having relentless spasms in my urethea all day. I will try to take your thoughtful responses and put them to use. Thank you do much each and everyone of you. I guess it would be silly to ask how long this might last as we are all different - but do you think I can recover quickly if I stay on the diet from here on in. I mean I was in discomfort before, but nothing like this. I have xanath and ambience that I have never once taken but that we're prescribed for me a month ago. I really don't go well on meds tho so I'm going to try to bear with it. Can't imagine sleeping tonite.
I don't really like eating red meat but have been. I was wondering if you could just eat chicken all of the time. Does anyone else do that? Also is it okay to be eating two eggs a day, especially if you are adding eggs to bread recipes and such?
Do you think this flare will ease up anytime soon?? Does more water help wash stuff out? Has anyone else experienced a flare like this from going off the diet? How long did it last for you if you did?

I'm sorry I don't think anyone knows when the flare would end... I'd hate to say one thing and it not be so. But I guess I could say, I don't think you need to look at it like its giong to last a really long time, it shouldn't.
People have flares going off the diet all the time, when they do. Just search this board.
I would highly recommend eating red meat. It will really help your body. I know Matia would recomend you eat it.
Two eggs a day is totally fine. You could eat 4 eggs a day and be fine, the way we eat. Its not bad for you, unless you are overweight, and or not eating some veggies and carbs with it. If you are struggling putting on weight, I would not worry at all how much protien as far as good meat and eggs you are eating. Just pair it with good carbs and veggies.
Try sauteeing broccoli in butter after steaming it just a bit, until it gets crispy. Its still a treat to me. This diet is very hard at first. Its OK if you feel like its hard right now, I'd say most of us felt that way. Like it can seem impossible. Once you eat this way for awhile, it is second nature, and you enjoy what you can eat so much.
Lots of water is great.
Your doing your body a huge favor, even starting the diet. You CAN do this.

I just read that sex can
I just read that sex can cause flares 24- 48 hours after having it. I had prolapse surgery 12 weeks ago and was given the go ahead to have sex with my husband. And did Sunday night and this morning. It was great but now I'm thinking was it the food or sex??? OMG. I hope not the sex. Does anyone else have this problem? Will I ever be able to have sex again? Someone please text me and let me know there is hope. I'm sorry if I seem do desperate but it has been such a rough day and this realization is scaring me even more then the pain.

If it is the sex, which, I'm sorry to say seems to be fairly common around here, IT WILL GET BETTER WITH TREATMENT - I know this first hand. Dr. B's suggestion is to pee before, pee after, and then wash with warm soapy water. Up until two months ago, I have avoided any UTI's and feel this has been a tremendous help. Now, I do from time to time still flair from sex - now fairly minimal. Take some deep breaths - this sucks but you're not alone. If you search someone, track how they sounded in the beginning. I think that you'll find that as time goes by, the pain, fear, and desperation slowly are replaced with health and calmness.

Does it make you shy away from sex because of it? When you say minimal, does that mean you sometimes don't flare at all and somtimes slightly?

I wanted everyone to know
I wanted everyone to know that I weighed in at 114 pounds tonight. I'd been weighing in at 110 - 112. So your suggestions for food helped. I hope to steadily increase weight throughout the week with your suggestions. My goal is to reach 125 pounds ultimately. If you have anymore great ideas for delicious stage one recipes to help add the pounds , I would be gratefull. The spasms seem to be slowly easing also. Not sure but hopefull. Thanks again with all my heart. All your replies have meant so much to me - you'll never know how much ....
