Is it okay to have red meat every day? And is hamburger meat an okay choice? Has anyone made meat balls with it?
I never ate meat much before. Sometimes sausage , but I mostly had chicken. You always hear its not great to eat too much meat so it feels very odd to be eating it regularly now. I need to know how much is recommended weekly so that I don't overdo it.
Also, I had lamb again the next day with no reaction sobi suspect now that it was the ground turkey that I had a reaction to.

When Dr. B looked over my history, before I had my first appointment, she told me (through Lynn) that I needed to eat more red meat. Did she say anything like that to you?
I eat grass fed beef, and Dr. B told me to eat it as often as I wanted because it's so good for me. Everyone is different, but if you can get grass fed beef, it's really good. I do eat chicken everyday also, but I don't think there is anything wrong with eating plenty of beef unless it somehow makes you feel worse.

I agree with Lisa! I think Dr. B recommends eating grass beef everyday at least for one meal, especially important early in treatment. I rarely ae red meat prior to starting treatment, but Dr. B really pushed me to eat red meat as much as I wanted, and pretty much the only meat I really tolerate at this point. I now find it odd the days that I don't have beef at least one meal a day. Grass fed beef has more omega 3's and antioxidants compared to other beef!

I thought most people on this forum recommended grass fed red meat for our diets - but you say it has omega 3's. So obviously you wouldn't recommend. Is that right? I just purcased a lt of meat that was grass fed! I'll have to let you know how it goes with me.

Dr. B told me that red meat often helps with the anxiety - personally I would have no problem with eating it every day.

Is there any kind of red meat that Dr Brizman highly recommends? I understand that grass fed is good. I find organic hamburger easy to make and affordable. Any other kind of red meat recommended?

Sue, I think any and all cuts are fine. I think grass-fed is far superior health-wise and one important step above organic. I hope you have access to a farm-supplier. There are also farms around the country that ship meat which might bring down the price if you have a place to store it. Do you live near a Whole Foods?They sell grass fed beef.
I too only ate red meat 1x per week, and this was the first thing Dr. B told me to change. It has really helped me on this diet. I make meatloaf "muffins" with an egg and some yeast-free bread crumbs and garlic powder and salt. When I started list two, I added sauteed onions to my meatloaf muffins. These are great to freeze. Over the holidays my sister made some turkey gravey with the water from boiled tukey innards, some celery/carrots and a few mediterranean herbs. We added butter and spelt flour and had a nice gravy to freeze and serve with the meatloaf. You also can make the olive oil mayo with garlic powder/salt and spread on hamburgers or meatloaf. Sometimes we splurge and make a ribeye or other cut. When you can add in tomatoes you can make a beef stew. I haven't done that yet. On list 3 I make a beef and bean "chili" with mild paprika and oregano if tolerated. I serve it with yogurt, avocado, cheese. Dr. B ok'd for list 2/3 Alvarado Street Sprouted Wheat tortillas which I eat with the chili. No yeast, bad oils, or sugar or other weird stuff. Hard to find. Some people make their own tortillas.
I was also glad I checked with my local butcher because they make some beef and chicken sausages without sugar, wine or yeast, and with herbs I can tolerate. It is worth asking around. They have been a nice addition!!

Hi Mimi, can I please have the recipe for the beef and bean chili. Sounds delicious! Im also on list 3 but I haven't really attempted to try anything yet. How did you first try tomatoes? Which herbs are you tolerating? I'm only using sea salt.
