I was wondering if most of you filter your water at home and if so, do you filter in your kitchen only or your whole house? I only have a filter on my shower and use bottle spring water for drinking and cooking. I order the 5 gallons from henckly springs and have the water stand in my kitchen. Plastic I know...! Henckly Springs do offer glass bottles but they are very heavy to carry and double the price. If any of you have whole house filters or even just kitchen filters which one/s do you recommend? Matia once told me that reverse osmosis filters can make the body too acidic and I sould stick to spring water for drinking purposes. Having done some research on the net for filtering water at home, the best I could find was reverse osmosis. Any suggestions or ideas would be most welcome. Thanks.
New Wave Enviro 10 stage water filter
I use the New Wave Enviro 10 stage water filter at my kitchen sink. If you google
New Wave Enviro 10 stage water filter the second option that comes up will tell you all about it. It is a little expensive but we are a family of four and only need to change the filter once a year. They even send you a reminder in the mail. The water tastes great!
showers??
Any brand recommendations for good, durable shower filters??
thanks!
shower filter
I use aquasana shower filter. The website is: www.aquasana.us What's great about them is I have an automatic withdrawal from my banking account for $7 per month. This pays for the replacement filter and s&h. Every 6 months the company sends me a new filter.
Once you get used to a shower filter you will start to notice the difference when you go to a hotel, or use someone else's shower that does not have a filter. Sometimes (depending which city I am in) I can smell the cholrine while in the shower. I think it's money well spent.
I too have a filter but I
I too have a filter but I have it on my main water supply. I don't use it for drinking more to gain the life of my appliances and so that I am not showering in chlorine. You can find them at your local hardware stores. Also the plane shower filter is nice but I found the pressure to be less and also I like to take a bath sometimes and then it's not going through the bath water.
I can also smell the chlorine when the filter is past due or I am out at someones house that doesn't have one.
water filter
More thoughts on the 10 stage filter. It seems expensive but if you calculate the cost of your weekly water purchases you might be surprised how much that totals in a year. Plus you don't have to worry about the plastic issue.
stage 10 filter
Thanks for your response. I had a look at the filter on line. It does a wonderful job at filtering a lot of stuff but it does still keep the floride in the water. I know that spring water is best for drinking, so will stick to that for drinking purposes even though plastic is involved. ;(
At the moment I am using regular main water to wash dishes and fruits and veggies, but wil purchase the kitchen filter for everyday kitchen water uses. Again, thanks for response, I treasure this support system we all have.
