water and plastic bottles

Our good water is so precious to all of us with IC.  I had been leaving my plastic water bottle in my car on hot days and realized that is probably not a good idea. I understand that harmful cancer causing chemicals can leak into water when plastic is hot.  Sooo,  I got to thinking... that all of the water we use, we have to buy in plastic bottles (large or small).  And i doubt if the grocery stores are too concerned about the bottles being in hot delivery trucks for hours or days.

I do not think that there is anything we can do about it. Probably just make sure that once we get our water home that we do not store it in plastic in a hot place.  Any thoughts?

The best thing is to buy water in glass bottles, I don't know if this is available in USA? I buy Evian in glass bottles - it is expensive tho but worth it for me, I really like the taste of Evian. I live in UK tho so guess Evian would not be imported from Europe in glass bottles. There are others available here - local waters, I buy a Scottish one for making soups and rice etc as its much cheaper. I do use Evian in plastic bottles for travelling but am looking for a better alternative bottle.

I think water from glass bottles tastes so good! Unfortunately- for many of us this is too expensive to consider and really around whereI live the only water I can find in glass bottles is mineral water and I can't afford or tolerate that too much. so I have been considering an alternative that I have yet to organize- basically it would consist of buying about 5 -7very large glass containers. I think they make big ones for people that brew beer like a 5 gallon bottle - so you can find them in homemade/beer/wine brewing shops or probably order them from somewhere if no one can find a water distributing service that delivers glass water bottles. Or maybe just use like a huge cleaned out glass apple juice bottle?  Then you could go through a painstakign process of pouring H20 from the plastic  bottles into glass bottles but since we do so much preparation already that sounds like a huge headache! Someone told me there is a free community spring in my town and its good tasting water. I get irritation in my bladder whenever I switch waters - like when I travel and can't get the kind I usually drink but I think it's about getting used to a new water and my body could tolerate it all over again after awhile. I just don't know if the spring water from this community spring is the right Ph level. I keep my water that I drink during the day in one of those Sigg stainless steele bottles and I love it! It doesn't make the water taste werid and I know I'm not getting werid plastic stuff leached into my water all day. good stuff to think about. Mary

I just picked up a ton of great stainless steal water bottles at Walmart for $3 each.  Klean Kanteen runs $15+.  Go in the school supply section at the front of the store.  The bottles aren't advertised as stainless steal so read the label on the bottom.  I bought one for each member of my family and am going back again today to buy more.

I recently found a distributor in Canada that delivers Mountain Valley Spring water in 18.9 litre glass bottles. It costs 21 canadian dollars for each bottle. I bought a couple of glass Evian bottles from Whole Foods and just reuse the bottle by filling it with Mountain Valley Springs from home and take it to work with me. Glass juice bottles are also great to reuse as water containers.
Good luck,
Yumi

Mountain vally water comes in glass bottles. This is what i use. I get the 5 gallon bottles and then they offer smaller bottles in glass as well. I was lucky to have them deliver to me. call and find out if you can get water in your area. This is the water Matia uses.

Thank you for all of your ideas!!!  I am on the hunt for large glass bottles and small metal bottles!!!  I am going to try to get the mountain valley spring water.  It is so encouraging to share ideas.  The time with Matia seems to go so fast....can't cover everything.  This forum and all of you are such a blessing!
Thank you!
