Interesting Article Explaining Gut Dysbiosis

Hi All,

I found a very intesting website that explains a bit about having problems with the gut including leaky gut, candida, bacteria, etc

Definitely worth a look at!  Also, some of you may not be affected by products containing gluten, but I feel I am.  This article also explained some research that I came across but had forgot about.  Gluten (the protein in wheat, rye, spelt, oats, etc) is biologicaly very similar to a protein found in the cell wall of yeast.  The immune system cannot differentiate between the two proteins and may attack gluten when ingested.  So for those of you who have sensitivities to wheat/spelt/rye, etc... you are not crazy... You are just yeasty!

Here is the website: http://www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/environmental-illnesses/c...

Hope you find it informative.

Best,

Thanks for posting.  I am still trying to figure out if gluten bothers me.  I know for sure popcorn, oats, potatoes and rye do.
I am not sure about wheat and spelt.  I rely on that and rice, but I see I may need to give up ALL grains..since I am not improving much.
Do you really NEED grains?  I just dont want to do furhter  damage by not having any!

Matia has told me repeatedly that we do need some carbs.  I have tried to go without and I get CRAZY! and then end up cheating... Some people who have had IC swear that eating potatoes is too much trouble because they are a part of the nightshade family which they think cause inflammation too.  So... you might want to to just try rice for a month and see how you do.  Also, Matia told me once that it is important to eat protein at every meal and to make sure that when you are eating your meal, that protein is the first thing you take a bite out of to slow the rise in blood sugar.
Hope that helps!

you need some form of carb or your body will go into ketosis(is a state of the organism characterised by elevated levels of ketone bodies in the blood, occurring when the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies (which can be used by all of the body for energy as an alternative to glucose). These ketone bodies are a by-product of the lipid metabolic pathway after the fat is converted to energy)
Grains are particualy hard esp in the begining. You might find that you don't tolerate rice but rice crackers or cakes are ok even rice flour. Try different forms. It's going to be hard to figure it out in the begining and esp hard because your not on proper herbs yet. You might look into trying out some of the gluten free flours and making your own bread.

thanks for the links Jeanette I am passing these on to my friends and family. My sister just got a UTI yesterady for the first time and she has a yeast infection from the antibiotics. She asked me if this is how it feels to have IC and I said it was a part of it. It's nice now she can relate to me. I mean i don't want her to be sick but now she can stop asking me why I don't just man up. :) I will pass this on for sure.

I think Matia monitors these boards regularly.

Jeanette,Matia posted on her blog this week that she would love to receive a copy of the articles on the chat site.  She also mentioned that she does not read the boards so that her patients will have privacy.  I think she wants to start incorporating good articles into her blog and make comments on them :D
