Heart Burn!!

Hello all,

When I was about 25 years old I started to have heartburn. My doctor suggested

I take prilosec. So I did for about 7 years!! Since starting with Matia it has  become

a little better but it is still something I deal with on a daily basis. Does anyone

else have this problem? For those who have been in treatment a long time when

did this go away? I feel like there is no way my bladder will get better with this

acid running through my body.

I had bad heartburn (indigestion), and reflux esophagitis for 6 straight years before I started with Matia.  It was nasty stuff and would even wake me up at night.  After I was on the herbs for 2 to 3 mo. the heartburn left, and so did the reflux.  I still get it once in awhile but not very often.  I was only able to take small doses of herbs too because I reacted to everything.   I might add that during the time I had the heartburn I went to a gastroenterologist and he prescribed prilosec for the burning and another drug for the reflux.  The Prilosec helped the burning some but nothing got rid of the reflux.  I was only on the Prilosec about 4 mo.  The doctor never did get rid of the problem.  Matia is the person who finally helped me.  It was just awful putting up with that burning 24/7.  I hope you can get some relief.

wow that is great that your's went away. I have been in treatment about nine
months so I wonder why I still deal with this. I wonder if I have a food allergy?

It's hard to say.  I think mine might have been due to sinuses draining bacteria into my stomach, but I'm not sure.  You could experiment with your foods and see if one of them is causing the problem.

I hate to say it, but anything like prilosec has a well known side effect, that if you go off of it, there is a 'rebound effect', and it can go on a very long time.  This is just an excerpt from wedmd, but i know mercola has talked about this as well a few times.
'The findings provide the best evidence yet that withdrawal from acid-blocking proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy is associated with a clinically meaningful increase in acid production above pre-treatment levels, researchers say.'

Hi Aerying! I have been in treatment just shy of 3 years and I still deal with heartburn. When I started treatment the heartburn was unbearable, waking every night at least once if not more clutching my chest because of the heartburn. These episodes don't happen quite as frequently for me anymore, but like you had been taking PPI's and other  over the counter meds for years before starting treatment. The use of these meds really messed up my pH balance and the yeast had a hay day and was growing rampant through my system leading to my leaky gut and systemic yeast issues. Most of us have low stomach acid and until our bodies become more balanced we will have issues with heartburn and all the other fun symptoms. Dr. Mercola just posted on the use of PPI's and their terrible effects on our health. Of course we can't use aloe vera juice like he suggests, but through treatment our bodies will regain this balance. For some it seems to take a while longer than others, but it will happen! http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/02/05/antacids-v...
