Oats

I know they're not on list 1 for foods but wondered if i can get away with spelt oats with water for breakfast in the morning?  i find it difficult to stomach much else at this time and have always used oats as a much needed digestive kick-start, if not it seems i can go days without a BM as they say!  Or has anyone found anything that's particularly helpful in getting things going??  I find I have to avoid eggs as these have the opposite affect on me.

Thanks :)

I would ask Matia about this. My first 10 days of treatment I didn't have a BM and she put me on magnesium tablets every night. I go every day now. Magnesium works for some people so discuss this with her. She may put you on the mag or let you eat the oats.

Very helpful thank you.  I haven't begun treatment with Matia yet, I've enquired but finances are holding me back at the moment.  Can I ask how long you've been in treatment and what list you're upto?

I have been in treatment for a month. I'm not really better yet but I am hoping the pain will subside sooner rather than later. :) I started with list 1, did that for 2 and a half weeks, and then she put me on list 2. I am reacting to list 2 though so it hasn't been as much fun as I thought it would be haha... oh well. I can only take it one day at a time.
You can pick up magnesium tablets anywhere. She put me on TwinLab magnesium and I got them at the Vitamin Shoppe. But every patient is different so I don't know if you will have a reaction or what not.

Hi - I think you'll find that oats probably won't be recommended by her - I've pasted a portion of the diet menu - listed at the bottom - talking about if you're flaring and don't know why - which has oats listed as a possible problem
11.Having any of the following in your diet at the wrong time: ketchup, mustard, vinegar, sauces, msg., legumes, including beans, green beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils, seeds or oils from seeds, nuts or oils from nuts, pickles, corn, tomatoes, beets, yams or sweet potatoes, oats, bagels or croissants, cottage cheese, cream cheese, ricotta or aged cheeses, milk or milk products, yogurt, margarine, soy, or soy products, tofu, bacon, sausage, ham, etc. i.e. nothing cured, cinnamon, ginger or spicy spices, sugar or products containing sugar, or natural or artificial sugar substitutes, basically nothing that tastes sweet including fruit, or juices, chocolate, alcohol, herb teas, gum.
If you search "poop soup"  romantic - isn't it?  You'll find diet ideas to help with the problem

Whole Foods carries Eden Organics spelt flakes / kamut flakes.  Only ingredient is spelt/kamut.  It's surprisingly good.  Can eat it w/ milk like cold cereal, or cook for hot cereal.
Another I recommend is Bob's Red Mill whole grain kamut hot cereal -- comes in a bag, you must cook it.  Slap some butter on top, it's a real treat.
