Please is there anyone out there who has suffered with IC for several years and managed to go back to sleeping through the night? I understand that the capacity and the acidic urine are what causes the nerves? to send messages to my brain to empty but how can i get these symptoms to cease for just a couple of hours more?? I will never get well if i can't sleep and feel refreshed. I'm NEVER refreshed from sleep - I just don't get enough. Sleep patterns are fragile and constant disruptions mess everything up. As the bodies PH returns to normal does the bladders ability to hold urine increase..?
sleep
Hi. I used to have the same problem. there were nights that i had to pee evey hr and then i woke up completely exhausted. As time went by i started to sleep better!!! and now most of the time i just go twice a night! I have a loong way to go but at least i rest more now. dont worry i thought that will never change but little by little it did, the same thing will happen to you!
Thank you Veronica. In the
Thank you Veronica. In the beginning I used to get up hourly like you and of course twice is a massive improvement so i'm pleased for you but I'm still looking to beat that even.
I currently get up 3 times in a period of 8 hours and have a regimented routine not only of diet but what i drink and when, but the broken sleep and my difficulty in getting back to sleep is still causing me to be permenantly exhausted so much so I am unable to work.
I've yet to find anyone who has gone from several years of night time voiding to none at all.. Does such a thing exist?..If you're out there get in touch! :)

I was up 5 and 6 times a night for about 8 months....then gradually it slowed down. Now I only go one time per night....unless it's near my period then it might be twice....occassionally I even sleep a full 7 hours without waking up....but not more than a couple of times per month.

I started off going 3/4/5 times a night, now down to once or not at all (about a 50/50 split, I think). I didn't go as long as you having to get up - it was months, not years - but it did improve! Really hope you get some rest, it's AWFUL feeling exhausted, I know
Sleep
Sleep seems to be the biggest problem I have at the moment. Since I have had IC (a year today) I have not managed to sleep more than a couple of hours, maximum ever 4 hours and very often I lie awake all night. Once awake usually due to the bladder, I cannot get back to sleep. I have become seriously sleep deprived and wonder sometimes how I am managing to keep getting up, work etc, it is a struggle and yes I too wonder how will I ever heal if I don't start to get some sleep. Problem is it sets off a vicious cycle of worrying about sleep which in itself can stop the sleep...aHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Matia has just decided to give me some additional help with this as nothing else we have tried has worked and she is worried about how little sleep I am getting. Have just got the herbs through which I start tonight (fingers and toes crossed!!!).
If it is really becoming a problem for you please speak to her about it and let her know how bad it is so that she can think about what you could do to help the situation.
Good luck and believe me you really do have my sympathy.
herbs
Hi lynette I'm sorry you're suffering too and I hope the herbs are helping. Yes it is a viscious circle and one I've suffered for my entire adult life!
Of course half of the problem is not worrying - not putting pressure on the sleep although this is so hard knwoing you have to continue with work etc the next day. Positive thinking is the key - it IS without doubt the only thing that has helped. I am learning to completely overide my head and thoughts and force myself back to sleep. That said when you are severely sleep depreived (i had 2 nights this week with no sleep at all) that is when you truly have to find strength. Take the reigns on your mind and show it who's boss!
I don't see Matia as I can't afford it - my insomnia means I'm not in paid work so finances are nil. I do however follow the diet as strictly as I can and also take the probiotics, goldenseal & oreganol.
I recently bought some valerian as I heard it helps to promote sleep and some rhodiola rosea as i hear this is an equivalent to st johns wart and good for depressed feelings (which will happen to a sleep deprived person)
Do you know what your sleepy herbs contain?
Sorry if this is naive or
