List 4 Questions

Forums:

Hello everyone I hope you're feeling and doing well.

I recenty started on list 4 and have some food quetions.  Dr. B says I can now have some regular bread, so long as it's low in sugar. Regular bread does have some yeast in it, does that mean we can have some yeast now?  I'd like to have some chicken broth with yeast extract in it? Would that be alright?  Also, because I can now have some regular bread, does that mean I can have some regular flour in recipes and regular crackers?

This is confusing and I don't want to let me mysef go too far too fast!

Peppermint Tea?

Forums:

Hi everyone,

Quick question on teas. I'm on list 2. I know it doesn't have peppermint tea in there as ok but I thought I'd give it a try today as it seems like something that would be ok to drink if green and chamomile teas and black coffee are ok. I'm now feeling a teensy bit flarey with some frequency and wondering if anyone knows what the deal with peppermint tea is? Is it known for flaring IC? I can drink black coffee and it doesn't flare me up at all but strangely enough I seem to be reacting to peppermint tea! I would have thought it would have been the opposite.

Question about probiotic

Forums:

I'm just trying to get some advice for my grandmother. She is 85 years old and has had a horrible year. Because I was going through all my stuff I never paid attention to everything that she was going through. I know in my heart that she has IC and probably for a long time but never alot of pain or symptoms until now. Im sure the 4 months of antibiotics did not help the situation. Anyway because of her age and her inability to travel...I would just like to find a way to make her as comfortable as possible.

Anyone have pain at first with Probiotic + RP? :(

Forums:

Hi All

I had a good first appointment with Dr. Brizman.

I took my first mega and 4 RP in the office. I was MAJORLY flaring since about an hour after I took them. The plane and train ride home were horrific.

Dr. B said she needs me to try one more dose so I will in the AM. I am now about a 9-10 on the pain scale. It has never been this bad in the 6 weeks I have had IC (I realize many have been suffering for so much longer)

Broccoli quiche with mashed potatoes

Forums:

Hi girls, I don't know who originally posted this recipe (under vegetables) but it came out so good!!! There is no way this is a IC friendly food:) and what's more great, it uses all 3: veggies, protein and carbs so its the perfect snack. Thank you to whoever posted this. Few things i chose to do different was peeling the potatoes, and not overcooking them. When i mashed them, they were slightly chunky andvthat gave it an excellent texture, and topped with provolone instead of mozzarella cheese. Yumm..hope you all enjoy it too:)

Yummy dressing

Forums:

I don't remember who it was that recommended this to me but omg Thank you!!! This has totally revamped my salads, just wanted to share for those who are allowed yogurt.

Mix some plain yogurt with some spring water to get a dressing like consistency and then add in garlic powder, salt, and pepper(if allowed). It tastes like ranch dressing, yum!!!

Horrible pain at night with constipation--:( please advise!!

Forums:

i All. I have been on list 1 for 5 days and going for my first visit with Dr. B this wednesday.  I am SO constipated. I have been feeling ok during the day, the pain is 2-3 on the 10 scale. But I am so constipated by the time I get to after dinner the last two nights I am so congested down there I think it is irritating the bladder. I finally had to use infant glyceryn suppositiories. They helped the first night but the last night my pain lingered after the bowel movement.
