Are test results unreliable for yeast, bacteria, leaky gut??

Forums:

Hi guys, I posted ages ago when i was first looking at treatment, saying i was going for tests for bacteria, yeast and leaky gut. I only got them yesterday and I was told my gut is in great condition, I do not have an over run of bacteria but that I do have yeast. I was told that the test for leaky gut is very reliable and that it is a great result.

Weight gain

Forums:

Hi everyone.  I am 19 months into treatment.  When I started, I obviously lost some weight doing the strict diet.  It was hard to do, yet lovely at the same time being able to fit into a smaller size without ever having to exercise!  Ha! It was like I had to eat just to keep the weight on me. All I did was yoga and walking and I still couldn't maintain weight.  As I've been able to work from list 1 up to (now) list 3, I've started gaining weight slowly.  I increased my exercise regime and now am at the gym 3-5 days a week, but the weight is creeping on.

How do you define 'pain'?

Forums:

Another question for you patient helpful women - what is 'pain' with IC for everyone? Sometimes I dont know if I have pain, irritation or discomfort? Or is everyone's interpretation of it different? When I am in discomfort, I am conscious of it the whole time, so I suppose that is pain. But when I first got ill (was only in October last year but brewing for years), I was in agony, couldnt walk, couldnt get out of bed. I now think that other level of pain was from the cystscopy and that pain went away. I am doing everything I did before but with constant irritation.

Does anyone have incomplete emptying of their bladder?

Forums:

My biggest IC problem, by far, is this - I go to the toilet, pee, fine. But then I have to sit there for nearly up to 10 minutes and do up to 10 more small streams. Even then when I get up from the toilet, I could go again but it would only be a dribble.

I got scanned for emptying my bladder and was told I could (saw for myself my full bladder on screen and saw it afterwards, with only 4cc left), though it was noted that I had to sit for a few minutes to full empty to it.

Places to socialize

Forums:

Hi everyone,

I am a new patient and following List 1. I wanted to ask those of you who live in LA,  if you have any recommendations for restaurants in the area where it is ok to find something suitable for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I don't want to take a chance and mess my diet protocol, so i usually choose to eat home my breakfast and lunch.

When I socialize, it's mostly for dinner since it's more appropriate to suggest going to a steak/fish restaurant get something grilled, really plain.

Newbie

Forums:

Hi Everyone

Well, I am almost a newbie! I am having to save up to come over from England to come and see Dr Brizman. It is going to take me quite a while, but I know it will be worth it.

I just have a few questions people might be able to answer:

1. Do people tend to have bladder pain all the way through treatment with it gradually getting better depending on the individual being treated? And if you do have pain all the way through do you have to wait until you have no pain before moving on to the next diet list? Just wondering... I know everyone is different.

Re diet and proportions of meat to veg/starch

Forums:

Hi guys, general question about the diet - are you supposed to have half of each meal as vegetables and a quarter as starch then the remaining quarter as meat? How much meat is enough or too much and is the meat included as protein for healing? The reason why I am asking is because I have no problem eating meat but am concerned I might be eating too much meat/fish/chicken at every meal. Also, regarding snacks, is it better to have veg or starch as a snack rather than protein or does it matter?
