As I get ready for my next call with Dr. B in a few days, I wanted to ask a few questions which you may or may not have already asked her directly. The 30min call goes way to fast so I want to take advantage of the time with her on other things I’m sure she will ask me.

Did you have bladder problems as a child before IC struck or did it come out of the blue, as it were (I know that it rarely just comes out of the blue) for you? If you had childhood bladder  issues, is your IC characetrised mostly by pain or urgency/frequency? I am wondering if different causes result in different symptoms. Which has been easier to treat for you - pain/burning or frequency/urgency?

Hope: I have had many more hours or days of pretty good/good in the past month. Still having bad ones but when I do the tally- it's looking better.

Vent: Feeling the burden of not being myself for a year now. It is hard to believe this started last November. I do better when I just focus on each day as opposed to looking at the whole thing as an incredibly tough year.

Dear all,

I have started having some flares with this condition. I never used to have them but this appears to b something new for me (oh joy). Do most people 'flare' with this condition or, like me previously, just had symptoms daily without flaring/ What does your flare feel like? Does anyone know why flaring is part of this condition? As ever, thanks for any insights.

My discharge had gone away, the tissue down below felt like it was healing and the itch was almost gone. Now I'm feeling like I have a lot of inflamation inside again, pain and the discharge is back. Does anyone else have this as a recurring problem or after a flare?

From what I get from reading this site, we aren't supposed to take any medications to help with pain. We aren't supposed to take medications to help with anxiety. We aren't supposed to have any surgeries to see whether or not we actually have IC or endometriosis because that will also make it worse. I don't doubt that. It's probably all true. But what do you do if you are suffering every day?

Crazy question but throwing it out there...  Today, my sense of smell has been shot up like crazy.  What I mean is that even till now, I smell like a burning smell.  No, its not lotion nor lack of showering... it has stuck with me ALL day long.  Before I started seeing Dr. B when I was really horrinbly sick with IC, I would smell of something rotting inside my intestines.  I'm sure I asked Dr. B when I met her, I cant recall her answer.  I now have this smell occasionally but today it just smells like something is burning.  Anyone else have this?  If so, what is it that you smell?
